What's next for Michael Phelps?

Michael Phelps has already accomplished more on the water than Ferdinand Magellan. He has won 14 gold medals, including 8 during the Beijing Olympics. He has virtually re-written the record book for swimming. There really isn't much left for him to accomplish in the pool.

That's why I think it is time for Phelps to take his game on to dry land, join the world of competitive eating and make a run at the Mustard Yellow Belt. Phelps' competitive spirit and 10,000 calorie diet make him a complete fit for the competitive eating circuit. Now might be the best time for Phelps to take a serious run at the 2009 Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest. Competitive eating legend Takeru Kobayashi isn't the dominant force that he once was and it appears that current Champion Joey Chestnut isn't in peak condition either.

What better story than America's Olympic hero competing on the Fourth of July?
