Road trip is a homecoming for several B's

When the Boston Bruins travel to Halifax, Nova Scotia today for a series of preseason games and training camp, many in the organization will be returning to a place they once called home.

Brad Marchand
Marchand is a Halifax native who also played his junior hockey with the Halifax Mooseheads. Brad will be in the lineup tonight when the B's take the ice against the Montreal Canadiens tonight at the Mooseheads' barn, Halifax Metro Centre.

Andrew Bodnarchuk
Bodnarchuk was Marchand's teammate in Halifax. Andrew will not be in the lineup tonight, but will likely play in either tomorrow's game vs. the Islanders in Moncton, NB or Thursday's game in Halifax vs. the Red Wings.

Claude Julien
Coach Julien played for AHL teams in both Halifax and Moncton.

Matt Marquardt
Marquardt played his junior hockey with the Moncton Wildcats.

Other Players with Maritime Ties

Shawn Thornton
Thornton played 4 seasons with the St. John's Maple Leafs.

Michael Ryder
Ryder hails from Bonavista, Newfoundland

Shane Hnidy
Hnidy played one season for the St. John Flames.

Adam McQuaid
McQuaid is from Charlottetown, PEI

Hopefully the Bruins have a better time in Nova Scotia than the Russian exchange student that got deported on my senior class trip back in high school.

If you are heading up to Halifax for the games, I highly recommend picking up some Alexander Keith's or taking the brewery tour.
