Thompson washes up ashore on The Island

Nate Thompson has been claimed off waivers by the New York Islanders. Thompson will be reunited with his former Wanna-B's coach Scott Gordon. Thompson has a good chance to contribute at the NHL level with the Isles and will likely fit in well with their up-tempo style. Losing talented young prospects like Thompson is one of the major downsides to the salary cap. Thompson is a player that impressed many in camp this year and was a serious candidate to wear the Spoked-B this season. The B's invested a lot of time and money into his development and they would have liked to have kept him, but simply couldn't find a place for him.
