Ryder riding shotgun on the first line
Last year, the Bruins gave up on the Savard-Ryder combo very early in the season, but after a disappointing start to the '09-'10 campaign, Claude Julien might shuffles lines and bring Michael Ryder back up to the first line. Ryder skated on the first line today at practice, occupying the right wing spot alongside Marc Savard and Marco Sturm, who shifts back to his normal left wing position. Milan Lucic dropped back down to the second line and Blake Wheeler shifted over to the right wing.
Marco Sturm - Marc Savard - Michael Ryder
Milan Lucic - David Krejci - Blake Wheeler
Mark Recchi - Patrice Bergeron - Chuck Kobasew
Shawn Thornton - Steve Begin - Byron Bitz
Zdeno Chara - Derek Morris
Andrew Ference - Matt Hunwick
Mark Stuart - Johnny Boychuk
"When he works hard he creates chances and when he works hard he's strong on the puck. And with Sturmy with speed and then Savvy. You know, we hope that somehow something can come out of that. Just trying to tweak it a little bit and see what comes out of those combinations."
- Bruins Head Coach Claude Julien after today's practice on Michael Ryder being moved up to the first line

I like this
A lot. Lucic hasn’t been brining it like usual and I think it will be good to have some protection and space created for Krecji.
Hope it works out.
Me too. Sturm-Savard-Ryder should be dangerous.

As Do I
I would really like to see Bergy move to 2nd with Looch and Wheeler though. Although i hate to say it, but it is a contract year for Bergeron so I expect one of his best seasons. This year hes already shown his better play by winning pucks along the boards and make great passing plays. Combine that with Looch in front and Wheeler getting the open shot, that could also be a solid threat every shift.
Krejci on third would also seem like a good fit with recchi sitting in front and kobasews speed.
Why would you break up the Recchi-Bergeron-Kobasew line?

New lines
This + being on the road for a bit should help. The special teams need to get going, however.

really?
put Lucic on the fourth line. was that a joke? you just sign a guy who scored 20 goals last year and is a catalyst for our team to a $12.5m contract and you want to put him on the 4th line. Your comment privileges should be taken away. And also they (4th line) have been our best line consistently so far, so why break that up?

The checking line is playing really well, though.
The third and fourth lines are playing pretty well. We need some more scoring and to not be giving up so many damn goals. Getting the PP and PK lines on their game will help that a lot.

They show that during intermission of Monday’s game. I think I commented on it in the open. Absolutely sick.

I was impressed....
I was pretty impressed after I saw this and I showed the kids on my Squirt B team. They proceeded to laugh at me for my astonishment and then all but 3 kids on the team went out and did the same thing at our practice, just as clean and pretty. When I was in Squirts 11-12 years ago only a few of us could do that sh*t lol….. Now if only my team could learn how to score actual goals we might win a few games.

I like moving Ryder up. I think they gave up on the Ryder-Savard combo way too early last year….Although Lucic, Kessel, and Savard worked out pretty well.

They’ll keep moving it around until it clicks.
