Bruins split weekend road games

I'm back for my weekend getaway to the mountains. I have to say hiking is really over-rated. Who knew that it is just walking uphill? While I was away, the Bruins were on the road for the first time this season to play the Stars and Coyotes.

Bruins 3, Stars 0

The Bruins breezed to a 3-0 win over the Stars in Dallas on Friday night. The B's got goals from Marc Savard (2 goals) and Patrice Bergeron. Tim Thomas turned aside 27 shots to record his first shutout of the season.

The Bruins lost Milan Lucic, who suffered an broken finger after a hit on Stephane Robidas in the second period. It is uncertain how much time Lucic will miss.

Coyotes 4, Bruins 1

The Bruins fell to the suprisingly competive Coyotes 4-1 in a game played in front of close freinds and family. The very few Coyotes fans in attendance were pretty vocal, continuously booing Blake Wheeler everytime he touched the puck. Defenseman Mark Stuart was the lone goal scorer for the B's in the loss. Ed Jovanovski, Adrian Aucoin, Keith Yandle, and Scottie Upshall all found the back of the net for the 'Yotes.

There were a few firsts for a couple Bruins last night. Guillaume Lefebvre was called up from Providence before the game to fill in for Milan Lucic (broken finger) and made his Boston Bruins debut. Johnny Boychuk also had his first NHL fighting major when he knuckled up with Paul Bissonnette in the second period.

Lefebvre? Seriously?

Vladimir Sobotka just can’t catch a break, can he? What, exactly, is the knock on his game again?

He’ll be up at some point. I think they wanted someone who could play physical since it was Lucic who was on the shelf.

Either that or Sobotka really pissed somebody off with how vocally displeased he was with not making the team out of camp.

This news broke about 20 minutes after I traded Kobasew to the Red Wings for Todd Bertuzzi and a 4th rounder in my NHL 10 season. Creepy.
