Bruins sign Milan Lucic to 3 year extension
It looks like Milan Lucic will be wearing black and gold for at least 3 more seasons. The Bruins announced today that the physical left winger has signed a three year contract extension with the team. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed. A press conference has been scheduled for tomorrow afternoon following the Bruins 10:30 am practice at Ristuccia Arena in Wilmington.
In 151 career NHL regular season games, "Looch" has recorded 25-45-70 totals to go along with 230 PIMs.
UPDATE (5:21 PM): Jeff Marek of Hockey Night in Canada Radio is reporting via his Twitter page that the deal is worth $12.25 million ($4 million next year and in '10-'11 and $4.25 in the final year of his contract in '12-'13)

12.25 million total, so about 4+ per year.

Now Ill be single and all alone.
Even though Im a Bruins fan I was hoping he would leave town. Im pretty sure my girlfriend is gonna leave me for him one day. Then Id try and win her back by beating him up and since I would of course win, we would lose out him anyways. I was really trying to avoid all of this
Actually Id probably give her away if it ment he would stay for years. Awesome news!

This might be the best comment of the week. Rambling and incoherent…check. Delusional…check. Putting the B’s ahead of loved ones….check. This one had it all. Nice work!

No-brainer
Although it would have been nice if he became an Ottawa Senator, this is an obvious contract extension. Seems like a high amount, but not for the Looch Ness Monster (has anyone called him that yet?). He brings too much to the table to try and play hardball with.

Yeah, I have heard people refer to him as Loochness Monster. I think there is even a blog with that name but it isn’t updated much.

YES, YES, YES! This probably also explains why Looch had a personal day off yesterday or the day before.
They said he had a cut on his forehead that they were letting him heal, but this may have played into it.

I am happy that he is signed but let me get this straight, Lucic is making more than Krecji? Lets break this down further the Bruins wouldn’t give Kessel 4.5 to 5 Million. That seems out of wack.
Kessel needed to be paid this year. Lucic isn’t getting his money until next year. The Bruins obviously feel that he is an important part of this team going forward and it is hard to argue with that logic. Hopefully, he continues to play with that same fire and intensity now that he got his big pay day.

I just hope he kicked Mike K’s ass again. I wonder if the Bruins tried offering this kind of a deal to Kessel? None the less I am happy he is resigned. Time to get Savard signed.
With what money?
We’ve got to sign 1 goalie, 3 defensemen, and 5 forwards with 15 million just to ice a full team.

Ok this is the best news of the day for me and I just went to the fridge to grab another barleywine in celebration. I dont give a crap about kessel. Especially after hearing that stat/fact he scored most of his goals against garbage/bottom division teams.
This is money well spent irregardless. He is worth every dollar because he is the complete hockey player. He is the most exciting player to watch on the ice and other teams drool over him. He can score, he can win battles in the corners, he can make plays, he fights like a MMA pro, he is the other team’s most threatening player and/or watched player. And to top it off hes at the age where I felt like hangovers were like a nose cold.
My most favorite goal he scored? Easy. It was the top shelf equalizer in game 7 against the Canes. How could you not like LOOOOOOOOOOCH!!!
what kind of barleywine?
that stuff is delicious.
i like Stone’s but Victory’s Old Horizontal is great too
Sierra Nevadas Bigfoot
I do love my barleywine. Ive stuck with this brand for all my IPA’s. I’m very content.
Ive yet to explore any others but if I see Stones or Victory Ill have to give it a swirl.
Let me state that I am the world’s biggest Lucic fan. If he were to leave the Bruins for another team, that would be the end of sports for me. I’d probably wonder off into the forest never to be found again. So that being said, I’ve very happy he was signed.
But I am very concerned about the cap situation. I was thinking Lucic would get about 3m, that extra million is going to hurt. I believe in PC, but I don’t know what he’s going to do. If anyone knows his plan, I’d love to hear it.
