Despite out-shooting the Islanders 32-19 and controlling the play for most of the game, the Bruins fell to the New York Islanders 3-2 in overtime on Saturday night at Nassau Coliseum. Frans Nielsen got the game winner for the Islanders with a breakaway goal 24 seconds into the extra session.

Michael Ryder and David Krejci were the goal scorers for the Bruins. Tim Thomas got the start in goal and gave 3 goals on 19 shots in the loss. Thomas is now 7-7-4 on the season.

The Bruins will be back in action on Monday night when they host the Philadelphia Flyers at TD Garden.

Timmy

needed to make timely saves and he did not. I sure hope he finds his top-end game back.

You don't score on 100% of the shots you don't take!

Wideman has been the difference between a win and a loss this year. His uncharacteristic play defensively this year has cost the B’s more times than I can remember. I want him benched dammit

It is tough for a coach to bench a $3.75 player.

Anyone else think Rask has outplayed Thomas so far?

…especially against the Islanders.

I’m hoping there’s a strange predestination thing with what’s going on: Thomas’ early play is lackluster, and as such he sees some playtime in the Olympics but not nearly as much as Miller. Then, post-Olympics, Miller starts tanking from playing an extra two weeks, while Thomas finds his game and we have 2 strong goaltenders for the playoff push. It could happen!

I could deal with that.

There’s a possibility that Jonathan Quick could beat Thomas for a roster spot.

wideman has been tough to watch at times this yearq

I wonder if there is an injkury we don’t know about.

btw, aaron ward was just put on waivers, for 1.25M the b’s could bring him in for the rest of the season….just saying you could then play boychuck on th PP

I don’t see the Bruins picking him up. The already have 7 NHL defensemen and not much cap space. Someone will probably pick him up at $1.25 million though, even if he is a -15 this year.
