Corsi Numbers: The Good, The Bad, & The Mediocre 2/19

Here is a look at Corsi Ratings (based on average 60 minutes of even strength ice time) for the Boston Bruins through 58 games played:
The Good
Vladimir Sobotka +7.6
Michael Ryder +7.3
Blake Wheeler +7.2
The Bad
Chuck Kobasew -10
Stephane Yelle -8.5
P.J. Axelsson -6.9
Note: Johnny Boychuk (1 GP, -13.4) and Martins Karsums (5 GP, -9.8) would have fell in the bottom 3, but I didn't think that 1 game or 5 games was a big enough sample size to slap a "Bad" tag on them.
The Mediocre
Matt Lashoff +0.3
Marco Sturm EVEN
Aaron Ward -0.6

Sturm will likely be on the “mediocre” list for the rest of the season, since he tore his ACL and won’t be coming back.
Yelle and Axellson are on the PK all the time, that’s probably why their numbers are so low.

Corsi only takes into account even strength ice time, so the PK time doesn’t factor in.

Yeah, but Yelle and Axe aren’t really on the ice to shoot, even at even strength, which would account for their numbers, so I’m not really sure if their “bad” Corsi rating is necessarily a surprise. I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before Bitz creeps into the top 3.
That said, the most surprising name is Sobotka, who really hasn’t seen much more than 4th line action this year. He’s not shooting as much, either, and is a -7. So maybe I’m just interpreting the numbers incorrectly.

@Gabe
It’s any shot that is directed towards the net when the player is on the ice, not just shots he takes.
