Could B's have eye on Morris?
Danny Picard from the New England Hockey Journal is reporting that Derek Morris could be dealt to either the Bruins or Flyers. He is also reporting that according to his sources Chris Pronger could be dealt to the Sharks.

so many defensemen so little time
Morris is but another on the long list of puck moving d-men the Bruins would probably accept in a reasonable trade, but I think there are some better packages out there (meaning d-man and gritty forward) like svatos and leopold, or antropov and kaberle, or cole and souray just to name a few. Who else are the coyotes looking to get rid of?
Granted the Bs are not limited to one team to get all the pieces they need, but I’m just sayin……
Cole and Souray? I’d consider giving up Kessel for that. Souray, at his peak, is a franchise defenseman and is under contract for quite a few years under $6 mil. I don’t think the Oilers are interested in moving him, though. He’d certainly perk the PP up.
I’ll admit to knowing the least about Derek Morris compared to everyone else involved in trade rumors with the B’s, but on paper, I see a career minus D-man who has never contributed more than 27 points in any season since the lockout, is over 30, and has a $4 mil contract that expires at the end of this season. Minus the contract, that description also applies to Aaron Ward and Andrew Ference (who turns 30 a week from Tuesday), so I guess numbers can be deceiving. In addition, Morris has only been in 1 playoff series, back in 02-03 with the Avs (lost in the 1st round).
And Darren Dreger says Morris is going to sit until he gets traded, so as not to risk injury. I’m sure there are a multitude of reasons a player would do this, and that it may actually work to the advantage of both Morris and the Coyotes; but the first reason that springs to my mind is that he is a prima donna puss-puss. Not really a “Bruin” like Chiarelli and Cam Neely are seeking.
I can see him going to the Flyers after they figure out that Bouwmeester isn’t going to be traded.

… or he was told not play until he was dealt so that he doesn’t get injured. This seems to be the new trend around the league: the Pens sent Whitney home, Nick Boynton was dismissed from the team (in strange fashion), Bill Guerin was pulled from the lineup after pre-game skate the other night, and Morris is sitting out too.

I figured as much, but Dregs worded it as if it was Morris’ decision. Can’t find the link on TSN anymore, so maybe I was delirious at 4 a.m.
