NHL Trade Deadline Open Thread

It's that time of year again. The day that every puckhead in North America has circled on their calender. It's Deadline Day! Stanley Cup of Chowder and SB Nation Hockey has you covered for all your NHL Trade Deadline needs. I will be tuned into TSN's coverage and scoring the newfangled interwebs to find out what is going on right through the 3 o'clock deadline and post the trades here on the open thread as they are announced. I will also try to stay in contact with Bruins beat writer James Murphy throughout the day to find out what he is hearing. If the Bruins do make a move, I will post a reaction to the deal shortly after it goes down. Feel free to chime in with your opinions on the deals as they happen. Don't act like you are going to be productive today anyways.

For trade news from across SB Nation Hockey, check out the SB Nation NHL Trade Deadline Hub:

NHL Trade Rumors and Hockey Blogs - SB Nation NHL Trade Deadline

8:19 am: It looks like Pronger might not be dealt. According to Sportsnet, Chris Pronger will likely remain a Duck.

9:58 am: Ottawa trades Antoine Vermette to Columbus for Pascal Leclaire and a 2nd round pick

10:46 am Update from James Murphy: "Bruins were very close to Pronger but according to sources the combination of them offering Bergeron instead of Kessel last minute in aforementioned package, the Blues jumping into the fray and Ducks being in playoff hunt killed the deal. They're still in Morris swepstakes, hearing them linked to Marty St. Louis, Jonathan Cheechoo, Mark Recchi, Jordan Leopold, Marek Svatos and Ian Laperriere"

11:23 am Don Sweeney via BostonBruins.com: "We’ve got something in the cooker that may come down relatively shortly here and obviously we think it’s going to improve our hockey club immediately. Hopefully it goes through; we’re waiting for Pete to give the final word to the other team and we’ll go from there and obviously making a bunch of other inquiries in different situations, see how it goes"

11:39 am: Matt Kalman from The Bruins Blog is reporting that practice at Wilmington has been delayed 15 mins

11:41 am: Colorado trades Jordan Leopold to Calgary for Lawrence Nycholat, a prospect, and a pick. Update (11:51 am): Ryan Wilson and 2nd round pick (from Montreal)

11:51 am: Pittsburgh trades Danny Richmond to St. Louis for Andy Wolniewski

11:55 am: No Nokie. Petteri Nokelainen is not on the ice and is expected to be moved.

12:05 am: Phoenix trades Mikael Tellqvist to Buffalo for a 4th round pick

12:29 pm Bruins deal made Update from Peter Chiarelli via BostonBruins.com: "Well, we made one trade that we can’t announce yet, so you’ll get that.  It’s, again, it’s a depth trade, that trade, and we’re working on a couple of others right now.  I think noon was a big turning point because waivers expired then, and some teams picked up guys and wanted to see if they picked them up or not.  So that’s where we are right now, and we’re continuing to be in our War Room, and we’re plugging away here."

12:31 pm: James Murphy is reporting via NESN that Manny Fernandez may be involved in a deal to Phoenix involving Derek Morris. He also reports that Matt Lashoff was in the press box last night with his agent and could also be dealt.

2:49: Toronto trades Nik Antropov to the Rangers for a 2nd round pick and a conditional pick

3:00 DEADLINE (Trades need to submitted to league but can still be announced after deadline)

Welcome to the 2009 NHL Trade Deadline Open Thread

I have my large Dunkin’ Donuts coffee and about 10 different windows open on my computer scoring the interwebs for trade news. It should be a fun day. I will post the deals as they happen here. Feel to free to chime with your two cents on the deals. Have it at Chowdah Heads.

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Mar 4, 2009 8:16 AM EST reply actions

I am going to be making updates to the body of this post as well throughout the day.

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Mar 4, 2009 8:22 AM EST reply actions

“Well, we’d like a good, I guess a good fit, chemistry-wise, into our line up. I’ve been looking at both forwards and defensemen. Ideally, a guy, to give us a little bit of flexibility next year, a guy who’s on an expiring contract. So we’ve got three or four guys in mind, and we’ve pushed these deals along a little bit, and we’ll see where they go today.”
- Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli on the trade deadline

Thanks, I got it from one of those sites where little girls get countdown clocks to their 13th birthday to put on their MySpace pages.

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Mar 4, 2009 8:35 AM EST up reply actions

It used to have a “MySpace clocks” tag before it but I had to get rid of that.

Awww, the man’s keeping you down! Although, really, I don’t see Mirtle as “the man” per se.

No, it wasn’t Mirtle. It was just embarrassing to have that on there.

Nobody has even told me want I can and can’t post on here. Noting has changed since moving to SB Nation.

nothing not noting…..Man, it is early. Sorry.

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Mar 4, 2009 8:43 AM EST up reply actions

Whoa there, no big deal. Excuse my presumptions. I like SBNation, and as stated it didn’t really seem all that believable. Sometimes in the early morning I make throwaway comments…

…especially when I just wrote the recap of last nights vomitorium.

Yeah, that was ugly last night.

Nik Antropov’s name is being pounced around again. I would love to see him come to Causeway….even if according to KPD, he isn’t on the Bruins’ “want list”.

My take on the deadline

I did a guest post over at Cycle Like the Sedins. If you haven’t checked out this site, I highly recommend it. They asked me a couple questions about the Bruins deadline and I obliged. I wrote it over a week ago, but I still stand by what I wrote.

http://cyclelikesedins.blogspot.com/2009/03/if-you-were-gm-northeast-division.html

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Mar 4, 2009 8:47 AM EST reply actions

I asked if they needed a bruins guy, they said maybe next time. Way to be on the ball.

Also, I DEFINITELY agree with you on Manny. But New Jersey scares the heck out of me.

Just to clear something up: This is a family-friendly site, right?

quasi-family friendly. You can say what you want, but try to keep it clean.

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Mar 4, 2009 8:55 AM EST up reply actions

I’m just trying to clear up the ground rules so when I’m four beers deep in the middle of the day and Chiarelli pulls the trigger I don’t get banned from posting.

I would probably give a couple warnings. I’ve only banned one person and it was a troll trying to promote a gambling site.

I wish a media outlet in the lower 48 would do a better job with covering the deadline (maybe Versus), but TSN does an AMAZING job of covering the deadline. Just another reason to love our good-natured neighbors to the north.

I hope the B’s don’t move Bergeron. He is finally getting back to being the player he was before the concussions, plus he has 2 years left on his contract.

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Mar 4, 2009 9:06 AM EST reply actions

TSN seems to think that the B’s are telling to shop Manny, but I don’t see that happening.

Good idea, Cornelius. I just set up my monitor so I could watch the TSN feed and have all my trade trackers on at the same time. Info overload, I feel like I’m in the future. Although I did notice that the audio-only feed is about 5 seconds ahead of the audio on the video feed. In case you want your news broken quicker.

Cam Neely on deadline day

“Well, we’re in a very unique situation this year; we feel we have an opportunity to go deep in the playoffs. Although you don’t want to gut your lineup, because that certainly will prohibit you to go deep in the playoffs and we do have to protect for future years, its not just the one year we’re feeling like we can…this is a good opportunity”

On if Trade Day will be long…
“Yeah I do, I know Peter’s certainly planted a lot of seeds and we’re just waiting for other teams to respond. We have an idea of what’s out there, we know what teams are looking for from us and at this point nothing seems to fit.”

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Mar 4, 2009 9:38 AM EST reply actions

That’s a decent package from the Canucks for Bouwmeester. Bieksa, Raymond, and a 1st.

by The Jumbotron (Gabe) on Mar 4, 2009 9:39 AM EST reply actions

The rumor was that the Canucks were going to stand pat at the deadline

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Mar 4, 2009 9:41 AM EST up reply actions

I’m guessing the Panthers would (reluctantly) say no to it, but not for on-ice reasons. They need a marketable player in exchange for Bouwmeester, and Bieksa is not it, though Raymond could be in a few years.

by The Jumbotron (Gabe) on Mar 4, 2009 9:47 AM EST up reply actions

I can’t figure out what is up with the Panthers. They sell ticket packages with a playoff guarantee and then 2 weeks later are sellers at the deadline?

That Boynton situation is bizzare too

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Mar 4, 2009 9:50 AM EST up reply actions

Can we discuss around the league or should we try to keep it (mostly) on the Bruins?

If there is a deal involving the B’s I will post a separate reaction to the deal

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Mar 4, 2009 9:43 AM EST reply actions

If there’s interest from other teams, do you think the Bruins would be willing to dangle Carl Soderberg? I’m kind of annoyed by the fact that he refuses to report to the AHL, though I fully understand his reasoning behind it. I just don’t think he’s worth waiting on.

by The Jumbotron (Gabe) on Mar 4, 2009 9:45 AM EST reply actions

He seems to have no desire to play in North America. It would a risk for anyone to take him, but anything is possible.

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Mar 4, 2009 9:46 AM EST up reply actions

I read it as he’s not willing to play in the AHL, and would rather stay pro in Europe, but he would come over for the chance to make NHL money.

by The Jumbotron (Gabe) on Mar 4, 2009 9:51 AM EST up reply actions

New guy checkin’ in. I also hope any deal the B’s do today doesn’t include Kessel or Bergeron. I’ve always been a fan of dealing Fernandez and promoting Rask but I don’t know enough about other teams’ needs to know if there would be a market for him.

by ike6116 on Mar 4, 2009 9:45 AM EST reply actions

I don’t see Manny going anywhere. Chiarelli has all but said that he won’’t move him.

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Mar 4, 2009 9:47 AM EST up reply actions

There would be a huge market for him, but I think Chiarelli decided to keep Manny a while ago, and teams have been looking elsewhere. Kari Lehtonen on the Thrashers is the biggest “name” in the mix, it seems like. I remember a few years ago when he was the Thrasher’s franchise goalie of the future, but they rushed him into the NHL and he never really recovered. Another reason I favor keeping Rask out of possible NHL playoff action this year.

by The Jumbotron (Gabe) on Mar 4, 2009 9:50 AM EST up reply actions

I don’t think it does Rask any good to rot on the bench for 3 months. Also, the Bruins need a backup plan in case Timmy wants a big pay day in the off season. Backstrom has set the market for goaltenders pretty high with his deal, granted Backstrom is younger, but still.

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Mar 4, 2009 9:52 AM EST up reply actions

Thomas DOES want a big pay day, and I don’t blame him. He’s good enough to be making at least 4-5 million, but…isn’t. I’m mentally prepared for him leaving in the offseason already.

They won’t, but toronto or some other team that needs good goaltending might.

Jarko Rutuu

Is this the kind of player the B’s need? I don’t know his salary number but, based on last night, he seems like a little dirty to go with the grit the B’s already have…

Jarkko is a cheap-shotting scumbag. He also has a $1.3 cap hit, 200k more than Chris Neil, who seems a more attractive option.

by The Jumbotron (Gabe) on Mar 4, 2009 9:53 AM EST up reply actions

While we mention Neil, TSN reports that the Sens re-signed Filip Kuba and have a trade worked out with the Sharks for Neil. Goodbye Claude Lemeiux?

by The Jumbotron (Gabe) on Mar 4, 2009 9:54 AM EST reply actions

What do you guys think about Antropov? I have been lobby for him for a couple weeks. Unfortunately, Brian Burke probably wants too much for him, but he does have a lot of what the b’s are looking for and has an attractive contract.

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Mar 4, 2009 9:55 AM EST reply actions

I’ve always seen him as a career underachiever. His best season was last year, but he’s way off the pace this year, but he clearly needs to move to a new team. I’d consider giving him a shot if we miss out on Tkachuk, but I wouldn’t want to see him signed long term, I don’t think.

by The Jumbotron (Gabe) on Mar 4, 2009 9:59 AM EST up reply actions

he was been on fire ever since Burke said he didn’t want him. I think he would love to prove him and his critics wrong.

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Mar 4, 2009 10:01 AM EST up reply actions

He’s been on my fantasy bench for the past 2 seasons, I know he can put up decent numbers, but I could easily see him turn into a Radim Vrbata situation. Shake his confidence, bad slump, and ZOOM, off on the first rocket to the KHL.

Alcohol and Drug addictions if I remember correctly. Also, he might have ditched the Calgary AHL team without warning. Hey, if he can get it together, it’s worth a shot. He obviously has the skill and pedigree to play pro. It’s just a tryout, anyways..

by The Jumbotron (Gabe) on Mar 4, 2009 10:01 AM EST up reply actions

Low risk move. Why not? Maybe being closer to his bro Michael would be good for him.

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Mar 4, 2009 10:02 AM EST up reply actions

Ottawa gets a 2nd rounder too. Leclaire isn’t the answer in Ottawa’s net, and Vermette, like Umberger, is not the top line center that Rick Nash needs. Still Columbus needs forwards badly, so I say it was a decent trade

by The Jumbotron (Gabe) on Mar 4, 2009 10:03 AM EST up reply actions

Pascal Leclaire is a guy that has been dealing with injuries. I still think that he was tremendous potential, if he stays healthy

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Mar 4, 2009 10:08 AM EST up reply actions

Plus, he has become a backup behind Steve Mason

I hope Chiarelli doesn’t overvalue him. PC has a tendency to overvalue “his guys”. Moore is a Harvard guy and is the client of one of PC’s buddies.

Pierre Maguire (who I hate!) says nobody even wants Manny. Too much baggage, apparently.

by The Jumbotron (Gabe) on Mar 4, 2009 10:17 AM EST reply actions

I actually was sitting near a guy at the bruins game who was talking about having met a couple of the bruins at bars and stuff and how they were really cool guys but said Manny was a total d-bag who made no attempt to veil that he didnt like being in boston. I mean take it for what it is, the carrying on of a season ticket holder I overheard but it’s not the first time I’ve heard something along those lines.

by ike6116 on Mar 4, 2009 10:20 AM EST up reply actions

I remember in my fantasy draft last year, one of the guys was an in-law of Manny (on the Jcques Lemaire side). Said he had some stories, but I never heard them; and that Manny was one of the worst people he’s ever met. Still, nobody’s come out and said he was a good guy, so thats saying something

by The Jumbotron (Gabe) on Mar 4, 2009 10:25 AM EST up reply actions

Perhaps the defense unconciously plays better for Tim Thomas cause he’s a good guy? That NESN special they run on Tim Thomas is pretty interesting if you watch it, seems like a real solid guy.

by ike6116 on Mar 4, 2009 10:29 AM EST up reply actions

Agree.

Looking at the game log, Manny hasn’t won since Jan. 8th, a four game losing streak, with two OTLs in there. Might it coincide with Chiarelli’s decision to keep Manny?

I agree. Looking at those last 4 losses:

 - Philly deflection off ference
 - Nashville shootout
 - Tampa Bay…ok, no excuse
 - Philly where the Bruins couldn’t score more than 2.

I’ve heard stuff like this before, but I don’t really put much stock into it. He still likes winning, and is good in goal.

Plus, the rest of the Bruins like winning (Right? I mean look at that L10 stat…oh.) so maybe they can work through this one.

Well, when I talk about how a good a guy he is, I think the implication is that he isn’t focused and committed on his game like other pros at his level. That makes it less likely he can turn in an elite performance when needed. Not that it can’t happen, of course, because, yes, he is a pro, but the money’s guaranteed, he’s going to be paid, and maybe he’s cool with just that?

Yeah. My buddy is saying the same thing about Tkachuk. It’s a simple fact that hockey is a team sport. People said Marty Turco couldn’t perform in the playoffs, but he’s been one of the best playoff goalies since the lockout. It’s ust the teams he’s played against are better than his team.

The Kari Lehtonen comparison still stands. Lehtonen was supposed to be an elite goalie, he got rushed to the NHL too early and completely lost his confidence. Toivonen also falls in that catergory but he wasn’t projected as high as Rask and Lehtonen.

I’m an impulsive guy to be sure, but it’s hard to look at Manny’s play since he’s been back from injury and not get a little nervous. Yeah, I’m having trouble swallowing Manny to Phoenix. Bryzgalov has been standing on his head for that team this year. Reminds me of Thomas last year. Has some games where he looks elite, and then some games where he lets in 6 goals on 15 shots.

by The Jumbotron (Gabe) on Mar 4, 2009 1:12 PM EST up reply actions

i agree Gabe, its hard to imagine but Phoenix might be trying to have their own one-two punch in net going forward and Manny/Brygalov would be a great combo

by Hub Hockey on Mar 4, 2009 1:15 PM EST up reply actions

You think they’d have a chance to sign him before he hits the open market? I see Manny salivating at the chance to be a free agent.

by The Jumbotron (Gabe) on Mar 4, 2009 1:17 PM EST up reply actions

Very true, but maybe he knows the Bruins wont give him enough starts this year to “show off his goods” making his market value go down. While a trade would increase his playing time in which will enable him to push the asking price up after this season.

by Hub Hockey on Mar 4, 2009 1:19 PM EST up reply actions

Manny is nothign special, he is an oft-injured backup goalie making more then our number 1, he is a good depth guy but I dont see the problem with getting something for him before he jets out in July, the Bruins will not be bringing him back and Tuuka will split time with a resigned Tim Thomas. Getting something for Manny espically a puck moving dman that can grow with the team and join the core is far better then an aging hurt goalie that hardly plays anyway and makes way to much money, paving the wya for another trade where we can get some scoring

Montador is a goodp ickup and for the price of Noki it is a steal, Nokie would never pan out on the big club in boston, to many good young talented guys that are ahead of him, good for him he will get a better shot in ANA then he would have in Boston.

Montador will give us good depth on the blue line, he is also versatile enough to play winger, good solid depth pickup

WOW wasn’t expecting this one. You just can’t go wrong with Recchi though. Proven goal scorer. Has a wealth of playoff experience and he has a good locker room presence. Chiarelli has definately shown that he has some sense in these things, making some important moves since he’s come to Boston. I have to give the guy credit. Everything looking great so far today!

I think PC gets too much credit for this team. A lot of the pieces were already in place before he got here and he has made a few bad moves (see Schaefer, Peter), but overall he has been a solid GM. I like what has done today.

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Mar 4, 2009 1:50 PM EST up reply actions

Well, yes, he’s certainly gotten benefit from previous GMs, but he’s been doing good stuff since then. Except Versteeg, but you can’t win them all.

Well........

I got into hockey during the lockout, mostly through wikipedia. My family is all from Minnesota, so I liked them. I also liked that they rotated captains, because it’s very egalitarian. Then I started participating in the message boards on the official wild website. I had a job where I could sit and do nothing in front of a computer in college. When I moved back to boston, I became a Bruins fan again. Then I went to all of the playoff games and needed more. So I got season tickets and a blog.

It’s mostly bruins, since they’re now my #1 team, but I like the Wild and my first-ever hockey jersey was most certainly a Wild jersey.

We’ve established that I don’t count. My blog was a false start. :)

RIP Jumobtron (9/08 – 11/08)

You tried, and got someone to liveblog from the press box…that’s something.

Yeah, but then that someone got fired and had her press pass taken away for talking about players weiners.

not really competitor, i enjoy reading scoc and the hockey blog adventure as much as writing on my own

by Hub Hockey on Mar 4, 2009 3:06 PM EST up reply actions

I agree. I think it is a good thing. It makes for a better B’s blogosphere

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Mar 4, 2009 3:08 PM EST up reply actions

We should have a bruins blogosphere summit sometime

A big return for Phoenix. Dawes, Kalinin, and Prucha

by The Jumbotron (Gabe) on Mar 4, 2009 3:04 PM EST up reply actions

I think Phoenix wins in that deal. Prucha has so much potential, but could probably benefit from a change of scenery.

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Mar 4, 2009 3:06 PM EST up reply actions

Dawes excelled with Jagr, he could click with Turris or Boeddker, and replace Jokinen’s production.

by The Jumbotron (Gabe) on Mar 4, 2009 3:08 PM EST reply actions

Small trade, but Erik Christensen goes from Atlanta to Anaheim for a prospect.

by The Jumbotron (Gabe) on Mar 4, 2009 3:11 PM EST reply actions

Montador seems to know a lot of the guys in the B’s room

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Mar 4, 2009 3:14 PM EST reply actions

I like that. Seeds of chemistry.

Is there a more FLYERS player than Daniel Carcillo? I only wonder how it took so long.

BTW, Evan: Tony Clifton just left the building.

VERY satisfied

although I still would have liked to have seen Antropov come to Boston

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Mar 4, 2009 3:20 PM EST up reply actions

AGREE'D

The Rangers stole both the pickups I would have liked to see the Bruins grab…

by Hub Hockey on Mar 4, 2009 3:21 PM EST up reply actions

Please explain the appeal of Morris to me. Just the basics. I don’t get it.

by The Jumbotron (Gabe) on Mar 4, 2009 3:22 PM EST up reply actions

I think Morris has potential on the right team to be a top tier D-man…Just remember watching him play over the years and I think he would strive on the B’s.

by Hub Hockey on Mar 4, 2009 3:25 PM EST up reply actions

I had this pic ready to go if the B’s got him though

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Mar 4, 2009 3:26 PM EST up reply actions

…and yes, that is a Saved by the Bell reference

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Mar 4, 2009 3:29 PM EST up reply actions

Disappointed from an entertainment pickup, I should not have taken the day off. Pleased from a Bruins fan persepctive.

by The Jumbotron (Gabe) on Mar 4, 2009 3:22 PM EST up reply actions

Totally worth it for me to take the day off.

But I’ve been drinking, too. That helps a lot.

Have we seen any confirmation on the Recchi deal?

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Mar 4, 2009 3:21 PM EST reply actions

Gretzky should come out and skate a few shifts.

by AndersLevance on Mar 4, 2009 3:23 PM EST reply actions

one of the better jokes of the day +1

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Mar 4, 2009 3:27 PM EST up reply actions

Hazel Mae is on MLB network now.

by The Jumbotron (Gabe) on Mar 4, 2009 3:28 PM EST up reply actions

I would have excepted just one Hazel Mae can crusher for Millbury, how did PC talk them into both of them

by AndersLevance on Mar 4, 2009 3:26 PM EST up reply actions

Tampa Bay’s official website also does not mention the Recchi deal. FYI

by The Jumbotron (Gabe) on Mar 4, 2009 3:28 PM EST reply actions

is there a possability of a bigger trade, or we jsut may not have Recchi

by AndersLevance on Mar 4, 2009 3:29 PM EST up reply actions

NESN also gave me credit for Jack WEdwards BINGO so you cant trust them haha

by Hub Hockey on Mar 4, 2009 3:31 PM EST up reply actions

yeah, but you made yourself a part of that story

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Mar 4, 2009 3:34 PM EST up reply actions

Jack Edwards Bingo was sorely missing “Dangle”

Every time he says that I want to turn on WBZ.

Who do you think is a bigger chain smoking NESN brodcaster Remy or Edwards?

Getting a look at those teeth I have to say advantage Edwards.

by ike6116 on Mar 4, 2009 3:37 PM EST up reply actions

Nobody is a bigger chain smoker than Remy. I would be surprised if Edwards smoked….Although, he does have stained teeth and has a need to feel cool

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Mar 4, 2009 3:40 PM EST up reply actions

He doesn’t go into hacking fits often enough on air to be a regular smoker.

Join me on the Hockey Blog Adventure!

by Cornelius Hardenbergh on Mar 4, 2009 3:54 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah, everybody’s mentioned it except the teams. I think it’s odd that Bish has not said one word about it.

by The Jumbotron (Gabe) on Mar 4, 2009 3:32 PM EST up reply actions

Fla. D Noah Welch to Tampa for D Steve Eminger

by The Jumbotron (Gabe) on Mar 4, 2009 3:30 PM EST reply actions

Tampa also gets 3rd rounder.

I thought FLA valued Welch more than that.

by The Jumbotron (Gabe) on Mar 4, 2009 3:31 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah way to trade within your divison, I like Welch and thought FLA did too, not a big fan of Eminger

by AndersLevance on Mar 4, 2009 3:32 PM EST up reply actions

If we get Razzle Dazzeled out of Recchi im gonna burn Tamps Bay down

by AndersLevance on Mar 4, 2009 3:31 PM EST reply actions

Yeah, takes the deadline grade from A- to a C+, I think.

by The Jumbotron (Gabe) on Mar 4, 2009 3:32 PM EST up reply actions

Totally, it will make me angry

by AndersLevance on Mar 4, 2009 3:33 PM EST up reply actions

Columbus gets minor league G Kevin Lalande from the Flames for a 4th round pick.

by The Jumbotron (Gabe) on Mar 4, 2009 3:36 PM EST reply actions

I was surprised they ditch Leclaire, I like Pascal, Steve Mason is great and all but what if he is a flash in the pan a la Carey Price

by AndersLevance on Mar 4, 2009 3:37 PM EST up reply actions

Pascal is a product of the system. And Carey Price had (has?) lots of talent but Montreal broke him by asking him to do too much in a finicky market.

Pierre McGuire called Leclaire the best goalie the Senators have ever had earlier in the day. Guess he forgot about Dominek Hasek.

by The Jumbotron (Gabe) on Mar 4, 2009 3:39 PM EST up reply actions

Pascal is a solid netminder, he did benefit from the defensive system in COL, but he still has major skill. Price has potential and they did break him but what about Raycroft, one year wonder. If he is a product of the system then the same must go for Martin and Backstrom, because there both defensive first systems

by AndersLevance on Mar 4, 2009 3:42 PM EST up reply actions

oh yeah and Dominick Who?

by AndersLevance on Mar 4, 2009 3:43 PM EST up reply actions

Couple names going. Former Bruin and hip checker extraordinaire Kyle McLaren was traded to the Flyers for a 6th and Sami Pahlsson went from the Ducks to Anaheim for James Wisniewski

by The Jumbotron (Gabe) on Mar 4, 2009 3:40 PM EST reply actions

Sorry, Pahlsson went from Ducks to Blackhawks.

by The Jumbotron (Gabe) on Mar 4, 2009 3:40 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah, say that to his face. hahaa

by The Jumbotron (Gabe) on Mar 4, 2009 3:41 PM EST up reply actions

I’m actually glad to see him get a shot with someone else. It was pathetic seeing him in the Woo

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Mar 4, 2009 3:41 PM EST up reply actions

That is just one mean Flyers team now.

by The Jumbotron (Gabe) on Mar 4, 2009 3:42 PM EST up reply actions

I hope he brings back the yellow visor

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Mar 4, 2009 3:43 PM EST up reply actions
