Lucic suspended for Game 3
TSN is reporting that Milan Lucic has been suspended by the NHL for Game 3 of the Bruins' first round playoff series versus the Montreal Canadiens for his hit to the head of Maxim Lapierre during the third period of the Bruins' 5-1 win over Montreal in Game 2.
"While it is unclear whether Lucic's glove or stick makes contact with Lapierre, what is clear is that he delivered a reckless and forceful blow to the head of his opponent"
- NHL Senior Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations Colin Campbell
In other news, Colin Campbell is looking into moving his office to a state of the art building on the corner Rue de la Gauchetière and Rue de la Montagne.

hmmmm... interesting
So Lucic gets suspended for that when we have “message sending” at the end of game one as well as a suspected eye gouge and a flying elbow not resulting in suspensions…. Sounds like Colin Campbell wants this series to go longer than 4 games….

this is horrible, on so many different levels.
colin campbell and his wheel of justice are ridiculous and it’s one less game lucic can use to destroy the habs.

I thought the hit was dirty and this isn’t the first time we’ve seen Lucic flirt with breaking the code but you are absolutely right this is bullshit considering what was done to Hunwick and the fact that Montreal received no such discipline.
Here’s hoping it doesn’t hurt us too much, it would be a huge statement win to be able to beat Montreal without Looch. With Bergeron looking better every shift it’s not impossible.

i agree
Lucic’s hit was uncalled for and the suspension is justifiable, it’s just frustrating that the same standard wasn’t applied to the Habs in the first game. To their credit, it’s not like the Canadiens were calling for Milan’s head on a stick — Lapierre himself said that in the playoffs, you “give some” and “take some,” and that this time it was his turn to take some.
In any case, I still like our odds not just in the entire series, but being able to take at least one of the next two, with or without Looch.

When you watch it full speed, I don’t think he sees Lapierre coming at him until really late and it seemed more reactionary than a deliberate attempt to injure (which is what is needed to call a match penalty). If they are going to throw the book at Lucic here, I don’t see how they can overlook the actions of Tom Kostopoulos, Maxim Lapierre, and Mike Komisarek at the ned of Game 1.

Thought that this was the best angle. Fast forward to the 42 second mark. You can see Schneider and Lucic cross the front of the net, tangle, Schneider butt-ends Lucic in the face (ironically, same thing that earned Lucic a suspension), Lucic responds with a cross-check, the two square to each other to exchange words, and LaPierre comes in from the blindside. Lucic see Lapierre coming in at the last minute, turns, and gets his hand (with stick in-hand) up in his face.
I may be biased, but I thought this was horseshit.
Also, someone already made the point, but why no third man in penalty on the play once the scrum starts?

I thought Komisarek should have been given a 3rd man in penalty during the scrum.

It just means that I can go see the B’s clinch in Game 5 at the Garden

Jack Edwards commented on Toucher and RIch about how nice it would be to be the ones that melt the ice on the Habs’ 100th season in their house, something about that thought makes me feel warm on the inside, and I dont relish agreeing with Jack Edwards.

Consiracy
This is straight horse!!!!!
Komisarek, Lappy, Jorges they get to run around, be dinks and play all around classless and Looch gets the suspension for protecting himself from a third man in agaisnt Lappy, straight Crap.
I hope the Bruins come in ready to rock because we need to throttle the Habs like never before, show them its not just Looch that can straight beat your ass, anyone with the spoked B is coming for you.
Down with the Habs, Put a huge Bulleys on the back of number 27 (kovy) and straight up beat him down, make it so he doesn’t even want to play the third period.
Embarrasing night tonight for the Habs at the bell Center.

Hey Mast...
Won’t get into the rest of your rant, but “bully” does not have an “e” in it……as in “Put a huge (Bulleys) on the back of number 27”. To be grammatically correct that should read “put huge bullies on the back of number 27”. Which they do in any case.
You can’t be too careful about these things. Years ago, some Englishman misspelt the FRENCH WORD “BRUN” in describing a brown bear. Added an extra “i”. Look what the legacy of that is. :(..
Lots of luck “Brun” Bullies………all of it BAD.
