I’m going to hold off on my excitement until I hear the terms of the deal.

Globe is reporting $5MM p.a. for 2-3 years. B’s have an out-clause (per CBA I believe) that allows them to buy him out, take 1/3rd the cap hit, and spread it out over twice the length of the deal.

Awful deal. Ties up lots of money long-term to an old, inconsistent player coming off a career year. This will force us to either lose Krejci or Kessel or destroy the depth which has been the team’s strength all season.

Does anyone think Thomas would have gotten near this kind of deal on the open market?
