Kobasew game time decision
Both Fluto and Bish are reporting that Chuck Kobasew was on the ice for pre-game warmups. It will be a game time decision if Kobasew plays tonight. Vladimir Sobotka would take his place in the lineup if Kobasew can’t give it a go tonight.

adding fuel to the fire tonight
Claude Julien is facing the man that fired him.

I would really like to see the B’s play a role in keeping the Habs out of the playoffs.

has there been any update on ference or wideman? i haven’t had any free time to read any blogs or anything this week, so last i heard was that ference was done for the regular season
No, the B’s haven’t been saying anything on injuries. Ference is on the shelf for the rest of the regular season and will be re-evaluated before the start of the round 1. I haven’t heard anything on Wideman.

You want goals and rough stuff? You got it on the same play.
Cheap shot by Gorges.

The B’s have gotten under the Habs skin and the Habs have lost their composure. No discipline being shown by the Habs.

wow
What a shift to end the period.
5 on 3, blast off the post by Chara, great stop by Price, and another dust up at the end.

The Habs or Rangers would both be interesting.

He certainly has been a Bruins killer over his short career too.
by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Apr 9, 2009 8:01 PM EDT up reply actions
The Habs have too much to play for though. The way that the B’s have beaten them all year. Beating the B’s as an 8 seed would be their moral Stanley Cup. That is a dangerous team to play. Besides, do you really want all those Euro trash wannabe Habs fans invading Boston?

Good shot by Kovalev, but bad giveaway by Hunwick and Hnidy looked caught back on his heels.

Where is Big Georges tonight? Habs had to know this would be a physical game. I would have dressed him instead of 7 D-Men.

Long night at the office if you are a scorekeeper, PA announcer, or penalty box attendant.

I love how Lucic gets right back up to fight his own fight!
by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Apr 9, 2009 8:32 PM EDT reply actions
It think is save to say that Lucic and Komisarek do not like each other.
by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Apr 9, 2009 8:33 PM EDT up reply actions
Lucic may have over-reacted to that one after watching the replay. he was obviously still seeing red and Komisarek isn’t his favorite guy in the league.

That is not a good sign the way that Bergy skated off the ice.
by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Apr 9, 2009 8:38 PM EDT reply actions
Not a lot of padding where he took that shot

This might be his best game of the year.
by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Apr 9, 2009 8:42 PM EDT up reply actions
if they trade him in the offseason to dump salary i am going to have a hard time being a fan next year. he has been just top-notch lately – makes you wonder what he would have done if he’d had sturm all along.
…or if he didn’t miss all that time with the concussions
by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Apr 9, 2009 8:47 PM EDT up reply actions
Damn it. They let them right back in. 3 PP goals for Montreal.
by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Apr 9, 2009 8:41 PM EDT reply actions
Yep, Lucic jumping Komisarek looks like the catalyst that the Habs were looking for.

That is the linesman’s fault there. That was a late whistle.
by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Apr 9, 2009 8:56 PM EDT reply actions
Wow, is anyone watching the intermission? The linesman held Bitz out of the scrum creating a 5 on 4.

i’m kind of disappointed in the bruins for losing it. it is much more important to win 3-1 or 4-1 and set the tone for the playoffs at “you don’t have a snowball’s chance in hell, habs”. some games, its okay or even right to lose it (file under dallas) but there were far more important subtexts here.
That Lucic thing was a big momentum shift for the Habs, not to mention it put one of the B’s biggest physical factors off the ice for 14 minutes.

I wish the Habs blog did open threads. This would be a fun game to have a field trip open thread.

I get too distracted if I start looking at too many open threads at once. Habs Eyes on the Prize writes more about Habs history than present.

The Bruins website has the worst poll question: Should Tim Thomas and Zdeno Chara win the Vezina and Norris Trophies respectively?
That should be 2 separate questions. Wow, I guess I actually learned something in that miserable research methods course I took in grad school.
by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Apr 9, 2009 9:31 PM EDT reply actions
Thomas: Yes
Chara: No, Mike Green gets the nod in my book
by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Apr 9, 2009 9:32 PM EDT reply actions
i think it would be very interesting to see thomas get the nod after being shafted in every manner imaginable by this league over the last few years. he is definitely the most deserving, but i still don’t know if he is going to get it.
Games played might be an issue.
