Kobasew game time decision

Both Fluto and Bish are reporting that Chuck Kobasew was on the ice for pre-game warmups. It will be a game time decision if Kobasew plays tonight. Vladimir Sobotka would take his place in the lineup if Kobasew can’t give it a go tonight.

I would really like to see the B’s play a role in keeping the Habs out of the playoffs.

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Apr 9, 2009 7:01 PM EDT reply actions

has there been any update on ference or wideman? i haven’t had any free time to read any blogs or anything this week, so last i heard was that ference was done for the regular season

by andie on Apr 9, 2009 7:22 PM EDT reply actions

No, the B’s haven’t been saying anything on injuries. Ference is on the shelf for the rest of the regular season and will be re-evaluated before the start of the round 1. I haven’t heard anything on Wideman.

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Apr 9, 2009 7:38 PM EDT up reply actions

You want goals and rough stuff? You got it on the same play.

Cheap shot by Gorges.

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Apr 9, 2009 7:40 PM EDT reply actions

wow. 2 good calls against montreal? this is unbelievable

by andie on Apr 9, 2009 7:42 PM EDT reply actions

The B’s have gotten under the Habs skin and the Habs have lost their composure. No discipline being shown by the Habs.

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Apr 9, 2009 7:42 PM EDT reply actions

wow

What a shift to end the period.

5 on 3, blast off the post by Chara, great stop by Price, and another dust up at the end.

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Apr 9, 2009 7:44 PM EDT reply actions

man

Now I really want these guys in the first round.

by jctsai12 on Apr 9, 2009 7:52 PM EDT up reply actions

the rangers could be bad news bears if lundquist remembers to hit the “on” button though

by andie on Apr 9, 2009 8:00 PM EDT up reply actions

The Habs have too much to play for though. The way that the B’s have beaten them all year. Beating the B’s as an 8 seed would be their moral Stanley Cup. That is a dangerous team to play. Besides, do you really want all those Euro trash wannabe Habs fans invading Boston?

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Apr 9, 2009 8:03 PM EDT reply actions

i’m still holding out hope for a panthers match

by andie on Apr 9, 2009 8:06 PM EDT up reply actions

Good shot by Kovalev, but bad giveaway by Hunwick and Hnidy looked caught back on his heels.

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Apr 9, 2009 8:11 PM EDT up reply actions

that was a much more eloquent explanation

by andie on Apr 9, 2009 8:13 PM EDT up reply actions

kessel – “you think you’re a goalscorer, kovalev? i’ll show you goal-scoring!”

by andie on Apr 9, 2009 8:14 PM EDT reply actions

what the hell was that?

by andie on Apr 9, 2009 8:15 PM EDT reply actions

I think Thornton is wishing O’Byrne a happy easter

by andie on Apr 9, 2009 8:17 PM EDT reply actions

wow the expression on the face of bob gainey was just priceless

by andie on Apr 9, 2009 8:21 PM EDT reply actions

Where is Big Georges tonight? Habs had to know this would be a physical game. I would have dressed him instead of 7 D-Men.

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Apr 9, 2009 8:25 PM EDT reply actions

he’s been a terrible enforcer for them though! every time he fights he gets hurt. blah.

by andie on Apr 9, 2009 8:31 PM EDT up reply actions

Long night at the office if you are a scorekeeper, PA announcer, or penalty box attendant.

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Apr 9, 2009 8:32 PM EDT reply actions

It think is save to say that Lucic and Komisarek do not like each other.

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Apr 9, 2009 8:33 PM EDT up reply actions

Lucic may have over-reacted to that one after watching the replay. he was obviously still seeing red and Komisarek isn’t his favorite guy in the league.

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Apr 9, 2009 8:36 PM EDT up reply actions

can’t say that i agree with lucic on that one. that was just plain stupid.

by andie on Apr 9, 2009 8:37 PM EDT reply actions

didn’t look bad on the replay. just a bad bad stinger. i bet he’s going to go walk it off.

by andie on Apr 9, 2009 8:38 PM EDT up reply actions

if they trade him in the offseason to dump salary i am going to have a hard time being a fan next year. he has been just top-notch lately – makes you wonder what he would have done if he’d had sturm all along.

by andie on Apr 9, 2009 8:45 PM EDT up reply actions

well jack edwards got that one right – the bruins (especially lucic) just lost it in the second

by andie on Apr 9, 2009 8:52 PM EDT reply actions

Yep, Lucic jumping Komisarek looks like the catalyst that the Habs were looking for.

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Apr 9, 2009 8:54 PM EDT up reply actions

Wow, is anyone watching the intermission? The linesman held Bitz out of the scrum creating a 5 on 4.

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Apr 9, 2009 9:04 PM EDT reply actions

need a good 3rd

Can’t let these turds believe they can hang with us in the 1st round.

by jctsai12 on Apr 9, 2009 9:05 PM EDT reply actions

i’m kind of disappointed in the bruins for losing it. it is much more important to win 3-1 or 4-1 and set the tone for the playoffs at “you don’t have a snowball’s chance in hell, habs”. some games, its okay or even right to lose it (file under dallas) but there were far more important subtexts here.

by andie on Apr 9, 2009 9:15 PM EDT up reply actions

That Lucic thing was a big momentum shift for the Habs, not to mention it put one of the B’s biggest physical factors off the ice for 14 minutes.

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Apr 9, 2009 9:18 PM EDT up reply actions

or how about when chara got the double minor for roughing? yes, he should stand up for krejci, but one shove and a few barks would have been sufficient and penalty free

by andie on Apr 9, 2009 9:20 PM EDT up reply actions

I wish the Habs blog did open threads. This would be a fun game to have a field trip open thread.

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Apr 9, 2009 9:16 PM EDT reply actions

four habs fans has been mildly entertaining tonight, but not as good as usual

by andie on Apr 9, 2009 9:18 PM EDT up reply actions

I get too distracted if I start looking at too many open threads at once. Habs Eyes on the Prize writes more about Habs history than present.

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Apr 9, 2009 9:20 PM EDT up reply actions

that’s what happens when your third line winger loses his biscuits and decides to spend a period reading teen vogue

by andie on Apr 9, 2009 9:24 PM EDT up reply actions

it was the only teen magazine i could think of – and he was very much like an angsty teen out there

by andie on Apr 9, 2009 9:27 PM EDT up reply actions

The Bruins website has the worst poll question: Should Tim Thomas and Zdeno Chara win the Vezina and Norris Trophies respectively?

That should be 2 separate questions. Wow, I guess I actually learned something in that miserable research methods course I took in grad school.

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Apr 9, 2009 9:31 PM EDT reply actions

i think it would be very interesting to see thomas get the nod after being shafted in every manner imaginable by this league over the last few years. he is definitely the most deserving, but i still don’t know if he is going to get it.

by andie on Apr 9, 2009 9:37 PM EDT up reply actions

OK, back after the glass change. Time: 4 mins good work by the ice crew

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Apr 9, 2009 9:35 PM EDT reply actions

poor ward. he has the absolute worst luck.

by andie on Apr 9, 2009 9:42 PM EDT reply actions

can’t believe that wasn’t a penalty….

by andie on Apr 9, 2009 9:43 PM EDT up reply actions

wow. yikes for BU….but i have more friends from UVM so i should probably be rooting for them anyways.

by andie on Apr 9, 2009 9:56 PM EDT up reply actions

I grew up watching BU and my brother is a BU alum so I’m a BU fan.

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Apr 9, 2009 9:58 PM EDT up reply actions

The B’s can’t play for OT. Finish them off in reg. What do they have to lose? ….a meaningless game?

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Apr 9, 2009 9:52 PM EDT reply actions

dumb play by kessel…might not be thinking clearly from taking that puck to the dome

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Apr 9, 2009 9:56 PM EDT reply actions

I don’t know why Ward bothers to wear a mouthguard. he never wears it. he just chews on it.

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Apr 9, 2009 9:57 PM EDT reply actions

please. they’ve been glossing over hooks all game long and then they call that crap at the end of the game?

by andie on Apr 9, 2009 9:58 PM EDT reply actions

this game is taking forever! usually i wouldn’t mind but i only got 3 hours of sleep last night.

by andie on Apr 9, 2009 10:02 PM EDT reply actions

I have a theory that Black Betty has been played at every hockey since it’s release

Someone prove me wrong….you can’t.

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Apr 9, 2009 10:02 PM EDT reply actions

shame – it probably would have been if it wasn’t montador. it was a decent shot though

by andie on Apr 9, 2009 10:04 PM EDT reply actions

OH MAN.

see, i wasn’t kidding about not liking the bruins anymore if they dump bergeron.
