good news

Glad that Ward is not hurt, and hopefully the B’s will stay focused on the win.

I always thought Aaron Ward looked a little like Wolverine…

I think that had a lot to do with the suspension not coming down.

We all heard just after the game that something might have been up, but no new information came down during the day.

I’m curious if the League told everyone to keep their traps shut until they saw what the results of any examination Ward got was. Once they saw he would be able to play, they slapped Walker with a fine.

That makes more sense then anything honestly.

But, I will say, I was surprized by the comments made by Carolina management after the ruling came down. They were pretty much telling the League they didn’t really care for their officiating on the ice. That’d get a response from the League itself, no?

It all depends if the 'Canes' management can produce evidence.

If they have video of things they feel should’ve been called, they may have something.

So everyone involved is ok now. Let’s put the madness behind us and get back to hockey!

Still not a crook!

As a canes fan, I agree whole heartedly, a lot crazy (and sometimes stupid) talk has been going on since Sunday. Let the puck drop tonight, play some good spirited hockey, and may the best team win.

Hopefully, during the handshake tonight.....

between the ‘Canes and the Bruins, Ward and Walker will be good enough sports to shake each others’ hand.

you surely mean...

…the handshake after Game 7, right? :)

tee-hee =)

Agreed on the insanity. Let’s just play a good game tonight, and what happens happens.

Nope after Game 6.....

I’m looking forward to the handshakes then.

Sorry, but I really want to continue to go to the games here in Raleigh.

I hope you understand……

Hey Chowder

Tell me something, has Gerry Callahan ever written on the Bruins before today?

What a whiny article that guy wrote. I’m willing to bet he’s not usually a hockey writer.

He is mostly a baseball guy. He hosts a morning sports show that talks more about politics than sports. He probably has written on hockey. I don’t usually read the Herald.

He is a hack.

He hosts the republican morning talk show here in boston that masquerades as a sports talk show.

He’s been disciplined a few times (suspensions, fines by the FCC) for racist remarks (not the fake PC ones either he called a black kid a gorilla)

His sports knowledge is limited at best and at worst is the equivlent to “These darkies don’t show enough respect”

You have to admit this is a great line:

In an odd non sequitur, Campbell added that Kermit Washington vs. Rudy Tomjanovich was "a fair fight."

Distractions

I just hope that this stuff gets left on the sidelines for the next two games. Even though the Bruins are well within the “code” to come after Walker for vengeance, now is not the time. They just played a fantastic 60-minute game and will likely win the series if they can do it again tonight.

Having said that, I wouldn’t mind seeing Ward “accidentally” clear a puck into the Canes bench, to remind Paul Maurice who has a Cup ring and who doesn’t.

Nice to see.....

that post of good-natured, goodwill on this site.

Hmmm, so you think that the Bruin’s are “in their rights” to go after Walker. Well, I hope they do. I’d love to see a never ending conga line of Bruins go to the box as the PP points keep going up on the board for the ’Canes.

Have a nice day.

I doubt that...

I think MO had an idea of what was going on and knew he couldnt answer the reporters question as it was asked without getting in trouble with the league and instead he threw a little tackless humor at the expense of his player. Ward knows that and was probably one of the first to laugh especially knowing he has 2006 ring.

I still have not heard anything from Ward, do we know his take on it? I like him and have the upmost respect for him and would be interested in his point of view.

In the end both parties are clear to play and we should have agreat game tonight.

He will be on Toucher & Rich on WBCN in Boston tomorrow morning for his weekly segment. I am sure he will talk candidly about the incident. He is always a great interview and never holds back what he is thinking.

Awesome...

Looking forward to it.

Prediction

Gamewinning goal by Erik Cole.

Talk about waking the beast – we need that one to wake up.

“So Walker successfully argued to the NHL that he figured a fight was about to start with Ward; it wasn’t so much a sucker punch as being suckered into a punch.” Puck Daddy

What was Ward waiting for? A punch/instagator penalty….???

by Mr. Bogart on May 12, 2009 12:35 PM EDT reply actions

Colin Cambell ... Quit already

First off, S. Walker is an overpaid middle of the road player, and Boston surely isn’t worried about him being on the ice. If this was A guy like S. Avery the league would be all over him, Colin Cambell has once again proven he doesn’t belong in the NHL league office (ask the Pengiuns how they feel about the lack of action on Alexander O. for that blatten leg wip). To actually go against 4 officals, and then say it wasn’t a sucker punch…you must be kidding. Why then have officals?
Teams across the board should be calling for this guys resignation, if this was Stall, Crosby or any other NHL promoted star I’m sure the punishment would have been much different to make a point.
