Around SBN: Fighters React to Nick Diaz's Positive Drug Test

WEEI.com's Joe Haggerty spoke with Phil Kessel's agent Wade Arnott about contract negotiations . He said that the two sides are at the very beginning of their talks, but it appears that both sides would like to see Kessel remain in Boston.

I think his agent is just saying this to give face. If Kessel doesn’t come here, the agent can very well say “Well, it was our top priority!” I still think he isn’t worth the $5M that is being thrown out there.

Maybe he would be if the cap was still going up, up, up. But someone’s going to sign him, whether it’s big money to someone else or 4-5 million cap hit to the Bruins.

The Bruins need to get this kid signed. I have heard some say Sturm is coming back and they don’t need Kessel, that is flayed logic, Kessel is a budding star and scored 36 goals Sturm has never scored more than 30 in any of his season in the NHL.
