Kessel's first priority is to get a deal done with Boston
WEEI.com's Joe Haggerty spoke with Phil Kessel's agent Wade Arnott about contract negotiations . He said that the two sides are at the very beginning of their talks, but it appears that both sides would like to see Kessel remain in Boston.

I think his agent is just saying this to give face. If Kessel doesn’t come here, the agent can very well say “Well, it was our top priority!” I still think he isn’t worth the $5M that is being thrown out there.

Maybe he would be if the cap was still going up, up, up. But someone’s going to sign him, whether it’s big money to someone else or 4-5 million cap hit to the Bruins.
