Excpet that is MATT Kassian in that video NOT Zack Kassian. Different guy.

I hear Zack Kassian is a beast though.

Can always trade down

If they acquire the 7th pick from Toronto and they have their heart set on Kassian, they could easily trade down and gain another asset (or 2). 7th pick is interesting, because one of Kane, Cowen, MSP or Schenn are going to be avaliable. Kassian looks to be a good player, but he’s a step below those 4. The B’s could trade the pick to someone thats desperate for one of those 4 and still get Kassian….

Cheers,
Matt

Right now, I don’t see the B’s getting that 7th from the Leafs.

still I feel like I don’t want to get MORE youth, i’d rather let our team mature and move forward not take a step back, who is going to replace the 36 Goals?

How did the B’s do when Kessel was out of the line up and when he still trying to get over mono and went into that slump? Cause IIRC the Bruins slumped when Kessel wasn’t scoring.

I agree with ike...

But sadly, it looks like the cap has made this decision already. No $$ room for Heatley, no cash for Kessel, tough spot to be in. Essentially, they can make a deal now to get something they want back or take compensation picks when Toronto/LA/Columbus/Edmonton signs Kessel as an RFA. I’d assume they’d get at least one first (maybe two), a second and a third. I don’t think Kessel’s getting $6.53M plus per year

And if the Bruins should match an RFA offer, they can’t deal Kessel for one year.

I was talking about the draft pick

This deal seems awfully stacked in Boston’s favor. Part of me wonders if Burke is talking down the value of high draft picks, while trying to trade up himself.

More fun than a stick to the face!

For what it's worth...

TSN has updated their story:

Sources tell TSN the Bruins have offered restricted free agent forward Phil Kessel and a draft pick to Toronto in exchange for the Leaf blueliner.

The pick that Boston is offering is not their first rounder in this year’s draft.
