Lucic for Canada!
WOW!! I know we are all part of the Lucic Crew. We all think he plays "wicked hard."
When I was watching TSN last night and they announced Lucic received an invitation to tryout for Team Canada during the summer evaluation camp, my jaw hit the floor, then my head hit the basement roof. I was surprised for 2 seconds, then, $%*&IN RIGHT!! Perfect guy for that team. The 3rd line, role playing, checking winger, that will make those "chicken swedes" wish they flew into the rafters instead of skating into the corner for the puck.
It sure is time we see players like Milan Lucic get special consideration like this. Great to see the brass of the Olympic men's hockey team show some balls and acknowledge that Milan Lucic has what it takes to play for his country at the most highest level. At his young age just the nod let alone playing will do wonders for his game.
I hope he makes it and I will defend his abilities and what talents he brings to this summer camp. Remember, when Canada wins Olympic Gold next February and Lucic had a "Neely Hatrick" in the gold medal game. We will see how vocal the 'nay-sayers" and critics and Montreal Fans are saying, if blabing at all.
If Canada was to have a Canada-1 and Canada-2 teams, the buzz of Milan Lucic getting an invite to this summer evaluation would be a quiet buzz.
I am surprised no one has posted on this topic yet. Let me leave you with one thought. What happened the last time Milan Lucic played in Vancouver on a smaller but similar national and international stage!! Good things are starting to happen to this young amazing player and he just may reach the potential tag of "Jr. Cam" sooner than most think.

I edited the poll so there were 2 options “YES” and “NO”.

I posted a short post about it when they announced the camp invites about 2 weeks ago.

Looch
I imagine anyone reading Bruins blogs loves Milan Lucic and the way he plays, myself included. However, I can’t imagine him making Canada’s roster for 2010. There are a few young kids that Canada summoned for the training that shouldn’t make the roster. The reason Canada is doing this is not to give the young guys false hope, but to give them experience of playing with the International team and meeting the older guys. Just having the experience to lace em up and get to know with some of the Canadian greats like Iginla, Thornton, Niedermeyer, etc. will be invaluable to these guys. If the NHL allows the players to go to the Olympics for 2014 in Russia, which I would think will happen due to uncomfortable situation the Russian superstars could make if having to choose between NHL and team Russia, that is the time you will see Lucic make his impact on the world!

It also doesn’t hurt to have a physical player like Lucic in camp to test players…OK, maybe it could hurt.

4th line
If he makes another leap forward in his progress in the first half of next year he has a chance to play on the 4th line. Either way this should be a great experience for him and only help his development.

3rd-4th line
I think he has a decent chance of making the team. I’ve read a couple articles where Canada’s brass have made comments about not wanting 4 lines with the same type of player, which could open up a spot for the punishing Lucic. He’ll have to play well the first half of the season though (hopefully this is a motivator for him and he tears it up!).
I’m not sure if this will have any effect on him making the team, but he also grew up in Vancouver and played his junior hockey there. From what i can tell, the fans seem to love him up there. A local kid playing his first Olympics in his home town would make a great story (and what are the Olympics about, if not PR?). Couldn’t hurt his chances anyway.
