Milan Lucic will spend part of his summer vacation in Calgary. The Bruins winger is among 46 players that have been invited to attend Team Canada's Olympic Orientation Camp to compete for a roster spot for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. The camp runs from August 24th through the 27th at the Saddledome in Calgary. Lucic joins teammates Tim Thomas and Phil Kessel, who were invited to attend Team USA's camp this summer.

Milan got an invite, but has he accepted it? He won’t go to Calgary until he does (or so I thought)

I’m suprised Savard wasn’t invited as well.

By the way, Mark Recchi got a sweet 1 year, 1 million dollar contract. I loved the way this guy played for us late last season. I’ve been a huge advocate of this move and I’m really glad they decided to do it

Are you really analyzing my choice of words that closely? I assume that he will accept the invite. I saw a video on TSN.ca this morning that talked about how grateful Lucic was to be named to the team, but I can’t find it anymore. I guess he called up one of Team Canada’s coaches right after he found out to thank him.

The athlete who turns down the chance to play for their national team should get a new nation. It’s high honor to get invited to this level of play, especially for a young Canadian like him. He might not make the team, but you know he wants it very badly.

This might be one of the reasons that Marc Savrd was not chosen. Steve Yzerman said that Savard had turned down offers to play for Team Canada in the World Championships a few times before and that played into his decision.

I meant to say “invited to camp” not “named to the team”. That should save delta from writing a long-winded condescending post.

Whoa, chill out man. I thought I misunderstood, which is why I asked if Lucic accepted the invite…

sorry to get you all fired up
