Bruins re-sign Matt Hunwick
It looks like Matt Hunwick's to-do list for this Friday just got shorter. The 24 year old defenseman was scheduled for an arbitration hearing on June 24th, but it doesn't look like that will be necessary. The Boston Globe is reporting that the Bruins have re-signed Hunwick to a 2 year deal. The terms of the contract have not been disclosed yet.
Matt Hunwick appeared in 53 regular season games for the Bruins this season, posting 6-21-27 totals and +15 rating. I think Bruins fans realized how much Hunwick meant to this team when he missed most of the playoffs after suffering a punctured spleen during the Bruins' first round series with the Montreal Canadiens. The Bruins could have used Hunwick's puck-moving ability in the Carolina series.
Interesting Fact: Including the playoffs, the Bruins were 39-8-7 with Matt Hunwick in the lineup and 21-15-3 without him.
