According to Bruins beat reporter James Murphy's Twitter page, the Bruins could be close to signing Zack Morris' dad defenseman Derek Morris:
Update on Derek Morris to Bruins: All we can say is that the Bruins and Morris are very close to a deal. No call back from agent. So "close"
Mike McMahon from the Lawrence Eagle Tribune is also reporting via Twitter that the Bruins have signed Derek Morris:
Just confirmed Morris to #bruins with a second source. ... No details on contract. So basically today's moves turn into Ward for Morris+4th

I met Derek in PHX about a year ago. He’s a nice guy. Hopepully he lands in Boston, he would fit in well. Although I remember him having a pretty steep salary at the trade deadline. Would it be safe to say that Derek would be pretty much getting the rest of the cap space $$?? Thus, still having Kessel on the outs?

I think Morris’ salary will be significantly less than the $3.95 million he made last season.

Good god. They just signed Morris for $3.3 million per season. Why is this just wrong? Are they going to have enough to sign Kessel now?
