Tim Thomas and Phil Kessel report to Olympic camp

This time of year, kids everywhere head off to summer camp, but there won't be any kayaking or arts & crafts in Woodridge, Illinois this week. Phil Kessel, Tim Thomas, and the rest of Team USA's Orientation Camp invitees arrived at Seven Bridges Arena in suburban Chicago this morning for the start of camp. Phil Kessel is still rehabbing from off-season shoulder surgery and won't be on the ice this week, but is still in attendence. Netminder Tim Thomas is participating fully in the on-ice portion of the camp. For Thomas, getting invited to Olympic camp is a dream come true.

"From ages 5-to-15, all I was thinking about was making to the Olympics...I was an Olympic hockey player in my mind when I was playing in the garage or on the pond -- I wasn’t an NHL player"

Tim Thomas

Olympic Camp

After reading this article and seeing that this is a dream come true for Tim, I feel that it could not have happened to a more well deserved player. Tim is just another reason that I am so proud to be a Bruin Fan. He brought so much excitement this past season and I know that he will shine in the Olympics. Way to go Thomas.

Is anyone else as excited for the Olympics as I am?

Probably not…you seem pretty fired up about it.

I have mixed feelings about the Olympics. The highest level of international competition in any sport is great watch, but they kind of throw a monkey wrench in the NHL season.

While were on the topic of the Olympics, I think the big ice surface is the one of the most overrated things since U2.

You just like the small ice in the old garden.

And I don’t blame you.
