Bruins likely to make a move involving Kessel in the next few days

Several news outlet are reporting that the Bruins will make a trade invloving Phil Kessel sometime within the next week. According to Toronto sports talk radio host and TSN.ca columnist Darren Dreger, Toronto GM Brian Burke is growing impatient with the trade talks and could essentially place a deadline on the Bruins through the threat of an offer sheet. The Nashville Predators, Minnesota Wild, and New York Rangers have also been rumored to be in the market for Kessel. At this point, it appears the Leafs are the frontrunners with the Predators trailing behind. The Leafs are reported to have offered the Bruins 2 first round picks, another draft pick, and a prospect, while the Preds are rumored to be offering a package that includes KHL forward Alexander Radulov.

get your facts straight.

the guy had ONE breakout season (last season), in which he scored 36 goals. He’s asking double the salary of what he deserves (kerjci gets 3.75 mil next year with the same level experience and arguably better stats), he’s fairly a soft player (opposite of what Claude Julien has in store for this team) with only offensive tools. Talent alone doesn’t warrant a 6 mil a year deal for a TWENTY ONE YEAR OLD!

Yes, he’s very talented and will most likely be successful for his career. BUT, he’s just simply asking for money that the Bruins don’t have. Not only that, he scored a majority of those goals by all-star setup man Marc Savard— who knows if he will have the same success getting fed pucks from a mediocre centerman.

Getting 2 first rouders would be a great deal for Boston, especially when you consider the calibur of players you get out of a first round pick in the NHL. Just think: you could get 2 Kessels for the price of 1 for a deal like the one Toronto is supposidly offering.

I don't know what you think of Mike Felger

But he was saying similar things yesterday on 98.5

The Bruins have offered Kessel a contract, roughly the same (a little bit less) than the one Krejci signed.

Krejci is more valuable to this team, so Phil is of equal or less value.

If he wants to break away from this core, which I feel has a good window over the next two years, fine, let him count his dollars, and find out how much he relied on Savard.
