The Dropkick Murphys are scheduled to perform before today's game and Ken, Scruffy, and the boys couldn't be happier. Dropkick Murphys frontman Ken Casey joked, "It's all about the tickets. They gave us these passes a couple days ago and you never want to give the Dropkick Murphys an all-access pass too early. I was down here with my son skating for his birthday. I don't think I have been home since I got the passes."
The band has had a long connection with Boston sports and the Bruins in general, having written "Time to Go", which has become somewhat of a Bruins anthem and included references to Mark Bavis and Ace Bailey in their song "Your Spirit's Alive".
The Dropkicks could be the good luck charm for the Bruins today as the home team is a perfect 9-0 when the band performs at a sporting event.
When asked by a wiseass Bruins blogger that somehow landed a media credential to the game, if any Bruins had expressed interest in sitting in with the band like Brian Rolston and Nick Boynton had, Ken Casey outed Milan Lucic as a former band geek, "I think he was in the marching band. That's probably gonna hurt his cred."
