Recchi could play center next game
Matt Kalman of ESPN Boston is reporting that Mark Recchi centered a line with Miroslav Satan and Marco Sturm today in practice. Recchi did see some shifts at center on Thursday after Savard went down with a knee injury, but was moved back to right wing after the Bruins called up Trent Whitfield for Saturday's game.

So…
Satan – Recchi – Sturm
Wheeler – Krejci – Ryder
Lucic – Begin – Bitz
Sobotka – Whitfield – Thornton
Something like that, anyhow?

They looked like this in practice today:
Lucic-Begin-Bitz
Wheeler – Krejci – Ryder
Sturm – Recchi – Satan (not sure who is on right or left wing, but those 3 were together)
Thornton – Sobotka/Whitfield – Paille

Regardless, those aren’t great lines by any stretch of the imagination.

Does Recchi have much experience as a C? I took a glance at his Wiki and didn’t see any mention of it. Just wondering if you guys had any info on it.

I’ve been wondering the same thing. Last game where he did play center (on thursday) he went 43% in faceoffs against the blackhawks.

Trent Whitfield has more NHL faceoffs than him this year, and Recchi’s percent this year is under 40. He’s good enough defensively, but I don’t want him taking important faceoffs.

He has played center at times throughout his career (mostly in emergency situations like this). I don’t how exactly how much he was played or even where to look for it. He was mostly been a RW though.
