Andrew Ference to miss 6 weeks with groin injury
You can add Andrew Ference's name to the Bruins injury report. The defenseman left the game in the second period of last night's 4-1 win over Ottawa after falling awkward into the boards after being hit by Chris Phillips. The Bruins announced that Ference will likely miss 6 weeks with a groin injury.
Ference joins Mark Stuart (broken sternum), Milan Lucic (ankle), and Patrice Bergeron (broken thumb) on the shelf for the Bruins.

question...
What is the thinking in Boston: are the Bruins going to re-sign Ference, or let him test the UFA waters after this season?
I wouldn’t be too upset to see him go. I never got the feeling that he fit really well on this team. I think his handling of the Paul Kelly firing rubbed some of his teammates the wrong way.

Ference has had his moments, but I agree, he’s not a core member of the team, and you could probably get a similar player in replacement.
