Around SBN: Two Minutes Of Thunder Basketball Wins The Game

A dead serious take on the current state of the B's.

This is starting to be unacceptable. We have lost 3 out of the last 4 games, all against teams that come from either Florida or California, 2 states that are clearly not of the same passion as us New Englanders. Yet, does this team seem to show that they care? Absoloutely not.

Krejci and Lucic are the two lone bright spots here. On the other hand, the energy line is gobbling up way too much ice time, and they aren't scoring any goals.

Obviously Claude has lost touch with this team's strengths and weaknesses, and I for one am starting to feel impatient with his lack of coaching prowess. He has been the coach for 3 years and we have yet to see a cup?

Also, it seems like most of the players are in huge downfalls that make me question their places on this team. Hunwick is being Hunwick, Seidenberg hasn't been blocking anything for shots over the last couple. Zdeno hasn't had any physical presence, and I am definately wondering about his place as the captain of this team. Nate Horton has lost his early form completely. I definately think we should offer him back to Florida for Dennis Wideman, as we were the obvious losers in that trade. Michael Ryder needs to be traded immediately. Speaking of needing to be traded, Tim Thomas has completely come back to Earth, I am sure disappointed that the B's didn't ship him out while he was on a hot streak. Tuukka is also not the answer. We should be looking to Philadelphia to see if we can pick  up the services of Brian Boucher or Michael Leighton. Blake Wheeler has shown that he can play a second position, so he should be shipped out of town immediately. Tyler Seguin has looked absoloutely terrible. He is often lost on the ice. I feel like it is a clear fact that we made the wrong pick with that draft choice. Also, Jordan Caron is in the same boat. I think his name will start to be heard in trade talks. Meanwhile, a guy like Zach Hamill is stuck in Providence, when he has shown consistantly that he can produce at the AHL level, and warrants a call up. Andrew Ference should also be dispatched of. Productivity aside, he is quite the injury liability, which means he has way too high of a cap hit.

Then we get to the cancer of the dressing room. Marc Savard has no place on this team. He is cearly doesn't have what it takes to be a Bruin. He is both selfish and soft, and should be treated as such. I would jump at the opportunityto get a 10th round draft pick and a used puck bag for him.

Also, I feel like an obvious front office move needs to be made, and Cam Neely needs to step down. He has been a terrible addition to the front office, and has just starved the team of all goal scoring. He clearly needs to be let go.

I swear, I truly believe every word of this post. lol

mixed feelings

You do have some good points, but you have a rather pessimistic view.

My first take is seeing seguin playing between thorton and paille. That makes me want to throw up. I understand that julien juggled the lines to get something out of the florida game. that worked but you cant keep seguin on the 4th line. He really should be moved to wing, and leave wheeler at center until savard returns. We have plenty of players that can play better than seguin at center so why keep him there? He should be playing on the 2nd line with skilled players if you want him to develop his offensive game, because we clearly need his offensive skills more than his defense.
Chara shouldnt be captain.
Ryder should be dumped
Really everyone one defense but Boychuck ( and Chara but he’s really been playing poorly)

When you start hating on Rask and Thomas, i dont get your argument, there both fabulous goaltenders and would be even better if they had an actual team that played in front of them. It seems that whenever the bruins lose its because they dont show up and thats unacceptable.

not sure why Krejci isnt between lucic and Horton. The whole team is playing awful though. Hopefully they come out to play versus a quality thrashers team.

But as a team they really have failed to play any good string of hockey over the last 3+games.

Weird

I still can’t figure out if you’re joking on that last line or not…but oh well. I disagree with most of your statements, regardless of a joke or not, lol. The coaching seems to be the biggest factor in all of this somehow. Maybe players need to have a carrot dangled in front of their faces on home games…“It seems that whenever the bruins lose its because they dont show up and thats unacceptable.” That is why Thomas and Rask let in goals, cause Thomas didn’t really have a chance today with the PP goals. It’s the unacceptable phrase that has been tossed around too much that bugs me. Cause it sure seems to be acceptable…

26 Points through 20 games is nothing to be ashamed of

I don’t see how you can say Seguin was the wrong draft choice for one. We weren’t looking for him to come in as an 18 year old and carry the team. Either Ryder or Wheeler will presumably be traded to make room for Sturm and Savard when they come back. And Thomas has a bad(?) game where the team gives up all 3 goals on the penalty kill and you suddenly say he’s cooled off and we should trade him? And Horton was a bad trade? Have you been drinking? The only points I’ll agree on are the Julien and Chara ones. Julien has never been great, and Chara is extremely overrated as a player and a leader and should not be captain. Otherwise, you sound like a fan mad about a shutout loss in which your team outplayed Carolina until the pk/pp units were on the ice. Teams go through hot and cold streaks, lets not sell out our entire team here…

You had me going, for a couple of paragraphs I thought you might be moving to Toronto!

This is obviously a joke, but it does reflect the entitled attitude of a lot of Boston sports fans these days.

Only problem I see is the coach.

Question!

Who should the captain be, if not Chara? Let’s hear your responses!

by tkent on Nov 29, 2010 8:51 AM EST reply actions

Simple: It should be Bergeron’s team. He is the longest tenured Bruin (besides Tim THomas who is ineligible to wear the “C”). He is a complete player and in a lot of ways the guy that the Bruins have built around.

by Stanley Cup of Chowder on Nov 29, 2010 11:30 AM EST up reply actions

clearly the only choice is matt hunwick…

but in all seriousness, if chara were to lose the c today, the only option would be bergeron

by BlueNGoldBomber on Nov 29, 2010 4:24 PM EST up reply actions

… you were saying about hunwick being captain? haha

… but yeah, seriously, bergeron is the only choice

by Joe McShane on Nov 30, 2010 9:05 AM EST up reply actions

It has to be Bergeron! He plays a great game and always, always, always says the right thing!
He reminds of Bourque the way he carries himself.

by SkateHitShoot on Nov 30, 2010 2:01 PM EST up reply actions

No question.

Bergeron should be captain.

The only complaint I have with Julien is that he’s way too fond of running multiple lines, even when the bottom 2 lines aren’t playing well,, when the Bruins’ issue can be summed up in a nutshell to being: don’t score often enough, throwing your checking/energy/grinding lines aren’t going to produce you many points.

by BruinsSelectSeguin on Nov 30, 2010 11:41 PM EST reply actions

If it isn’t a joke, you’re completely INSANE. Cam Neely step down? He just got there. Seguin wrong choice? wow, 20+ games in and he’s a bust? Trade Horton back? Yep, this has to be a joke. The only thing I agree with is gettin’ a new coach, other than that, you’re on crack.
