Bruins to give away singing Rene Rancourt ornaments

Just in time for the holidays, the Bruins and TD Bank have team up to bring you the collectible singing Rene Rancourt ornament. The first 10,000 fans through the turnstiles at TD Garden for the Bruins game against the Anaheim Ducks on Monday, December 20th will take home a singing ornament of the man with the black tuxedo and the golden pipes. Fist pump to whoever brainstormed this idea.

Cool
Hopefully this will be a sign of shelling out for a Gold Out / Black Out the garden give away come playoff time but I think we all know the likelihood of that.
I’ve always thought the Blackout, Whiteout, etc. thing was lame. Let the Carolinas of the league resort to that.

I don’t know, you were pretty hot-to-trot on golding out the garden

This is true, but that was more of protest of the status quo than a give-away promotion.

It was cool when Winnipeg was doing it back in the 80s, but like the wave, it’s gotten stale.
Free Brad Marchand!
Anything to get a better Garden arena shot than those two kids in an otherwise empty section.

Strongly agree, that would look awesome.
Way better than some lame thundersticks or another yellow towel advertising lumber liquidators or at&t

They're okay
I like everyone wearing the same color though, that looks awesome:

Sports are stupid. Doesn’t make them less fun or a bad idea.

See my thought was this, get the fans to wear shirts that are the same color as the primary color of the jersey the team is wearing (so in boston it would be black shirts). Then have towels that are the same color as the secondary color on the jersey (so at the garden, it would be gold towels). This would make the 7th man be wearing the same colors as the guys on the ice. I think it would look pretty sweet.

That they’re only making 10,000 is really dumb.

off topic, but
i wonder if Seguin is gonna be out for tomorrow night’s game again…..we could definitely use his speed….
@DJBean on twitter said he was all healed up, so I would assume he’s back.

Ha, nice.
I’m going next Thursday against the ATL, so I’ll miss out on this sadly.
I suspect there might be a few of those to buy in the shop for last minute gifts.
Wow
I know Rene is fun to watch, but does anyone care that he doesn’t sing on key? I’ve been waiting several years for him to stop singing cause it hurts my ears. Couldn’t they have him sing just a few times a year, and get new singers? I’ve noticed that they actually did have a few new singers lately. Does that mean this “toy” is in honor of him leaving or something? I’ve got nothing against the guy, just there are way better singers out there…
Boo this man! Rene is a legend.

Absolutely not. I’d rather Rene sing slightly off key than a legion of berklee music students over-doing it.
Couldn’t they have him sing just a few times a year, and get new singers? They do and it sucks.
I’ve got nothing against the guy, just there are way better singers out there…Yeah, but there’s a difference between “can hit every note” and “sings an anthem well”

Haha
Touche. You have a good point Tom. I actually only really like 1 Ska band, thus the name. I actually don’t enjoy most Ska for precisely that reason. I like the music. Most bands, as soon as they open their mouths is when the song gets turned off, haha. And I’m honored that Stanley Cup of Chowder himself would take the time to reply, lol. Maybe if I lived in Boston and heard Rene singing live in the arena atmosphere it would grow on me. :)
