It's Break-Up Day
Today is Break-Up Day. No, not the anniversary of the day that your ex-girlfriend found out you were stooping the secretary from your office. Today is the day that the Bruins packed up their things from TD Garden (some for the last time) and headed home for the summer.
It is also the day when Peter Chiarelli and Claude Julien dodge answering questions from the media by using GM and coach speak. It's OK, we should all feel warm and fuzzy about everything that just happened in Game 7 because they are "not making excuses" and the B's were "one of five teams to be in the second round" in the past two years. Check out the uninspired GM/coach speak below:

No, not the anniversary of the day that your ex-girlfriend found out you were stooping the secretary from your office.
Admittedly I’m not current with the “fly, dope-ass verbage”, but “stooping” is a new term for that act for me.
I think this is the correct spelling http://www.thefreedictionary.com/shtupping
But I found entries on Urban Dictionary for both the spelling that I used and the one you used.

Not a word you see in print much.

Windsor game on NHL network
If anyone needs a pick me up maybe watching Taylor Hall would help.
A Windsor/Moncton game is on NHL Network.
We all hope for Hall.
Watch Edmonton take him. Really, will anyone be shocked?
I know they need a Centre, but that’s beside the point. Especially if they think they can squeeze us for something.
Seguin would be delightful. He can move to wing like Kessel did.

Oh don’t get me wrong, I’ll be perfectly happy with either of them. It’s just that with all the hype many here have for Hall, and how much Chiarelli likes him, and the fact that Bobby Orr is his manager, and that he’d get to wear #44, I sense we’ll end up with Seguin after all of this.
I watched some of Hall last night. He looked very quick! At one point he got crunched from behind into the boards and skated to the bench. He came back his next shift, but I just couldn’t watch anymore!

That seems to be a common theme with him. Kid’s the next lindros, I’ll take Seguin.

I love how everyone is an expert on a couple of 17 year old kids that all they have watched is YouTube clips or maybe part of a junior game on NHL Network.
I have no idea what these kids’ games are like. All I know is they are the top 2 players in this year’s draft. Hall is supposed to be the scorer. Seguin is the playmaker. I think they needed the scorer.

sorry, forgot to disclaim that I am in no way an expert on either kid. Based on a few things I’ve seen I’ve got a feeling seguin will be better overall but that’s just a feeling so who knows?
Edmonton has to worry about who to pick, Boston just has to take the leftover guy.

The junior system sucks that way
In the NBA and NFL you can watch your potential draft picks play in college all the time on ESPN, but with juniors you really have to live in Canada to have any chance of paying attention to it. I don’t know how many American hockey fans could tell you anything about the Prince George Cougars, Owen Sound Attack, or Acadie-Bathurst Titan. It’s a real fault with the system as far as growing the game as a whole in the States. What Paul Kelly is doing trying to get more kids to go the NCAA route should help long term, but right now watching the Memorial Cup is the only way we’ll be able to learn something about these guys all year.
i know that acadie bathurst is a scrappy bunch that plays some pretty physical hockey for this level. i saw em crush lewiston a couple of times this year, but i get the advantage of the only CHL team on the eash cost playing 5 miles away. only reason to love maine, hockey is a big deal here

I heard some talk that they might be in danger of relocating a few months back.
by Stanley Cup of Chowder on May 19, 2010 6:49 PM EDT up reply actions
they attempted to last year, cause a new guy bought the team and instead of trying to build a fanbase, he was gonna relocate, but then they got blocked from montreal on teritorial grounds, so they were forced into staying, not a terrible showing this year, they increased attendance for the first time in forever

Thanks good. I should try to make it up there for a game next year.

its really good hockey. very fast paced for 16-21 years old. quebec and lewiston always put on a great show together

C’mon man, nobodys claiming to be an expert from what I can see. They just wanna talk about something other than the epic choke.
I wouldn’t let it bother you

That was more of a general comment about Bruins fans talking about the 2 players.
by Stanley Cup of Chowder on May 19, 2010 7:53 PM EDT up reply actions
Wow! I guess i should have completed that thought.
I couldn’t watch him anymore last night (the first time I’ve watched him for any lenght of time) because i was worried that Savvy’s future wingmate might get injured! and the way things have been going, he’d need 8 months to recover! You know all negative thought crap!
by SkateHitShoot on May 19, 2010 6:48 PM EDT up reply actions
I didn’t know that! That’s the first negative I think I’ve heard, but I haven’t been researching him either.

just wondering
Why did the nhl decide that seguin was the top prospect? hall has three very good seasons in the ohl while seguin has two good ones.
Do they decide on skillsets/physical attributes? Are they just really excited about seguin’s great 09-10?

he was named number 1 by NHL central scouting, which takes average grades from a bunch of independent scouts, and averages them together. and they grade on NHL potential/readyness
