Injury Report
Boston
Out for the Playoffs (and longer): Marco Sturm (torn ACL & MCL)
Out for the Series: Dennis Seidenberg (wrist)
Could Return Later in the Series: Mark Stuart (finger)
Philadelphia
Out for the Series: Ian Laperriere (brain contusion and concussion), Ray Emery (hip), & Jeff Carter (foot).
Could Return Later in Series: Simon Gagne (toe) & Michael Leighton (ankle)
Series Recap
Bruins lead Series 2-0
Notes:
- If the Bruins can split these two games in Philly and come back to Boston with a 3-1 series lead, they would be in great shape. A sweep would be nice, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.
- Mark Stuart and Simon Gagne would both like to get back on the ice before the end of this series. The earliest we could see Stuart is Game 4, while Gagne could be back for Game 5.
- James Murphy of NESN.com is reporting that Marc Savard has denied Joe Haggerty's report that Mike Richards threaten him during Game 2.
- Tuukka Rask, Johnny Boychuk, Zdeno Chara, Matt Hunwick, Dennis Wideman, Patrice Bergeron and Mark Recchi were all given the day off from practice on Tuesday by Claude Julien.
- Calling it now: Shawn Thornton drops the gloves tonight with Daniel Carcillo.
- Tonight's game airs on Versus.
- Public Skate open thread starts right here at 6:30.

Calling it now: Shawn Thornton drops the gloves tonight with Daniel Carcillo.
That seems like a good bet. Hopefully he fares better than he did at the Winter Classic.
He won’t fight against Thornton because he is a turtle and a major douche bag. Carcillo the Hack didn’t want anything to do with Begin either.
If he draws Thornton into a penalty, he can be as big a douche bag as you think he is. He’s not going to care and none of us will, either.

The split is certainly what a Bruin fan should hope for
But, I’d much rather see them take the win tonight. Going up 3-0.
Philly will be fighting tooth and nail to keep that from happening. If they end up losing, they are deep in the hole, and must play like madmen just to have the chance to play in Boston to have their first chance to advance.
Of course, if they win tonight……..
Nice catch

Look, I’m just interested in a Flyers fan input on the relative merits of their team. I’ve heard enough about Dan Carcillo now though, but I am looking forward to a well-reasoned assessment of other players.

I think mocking and ridicule for dumb posts works much matter than a wait period. Some of my more intelligent members have weeded out a few weak new members.

If Carcillo doesn’t drop the gloves its because he’s a first line player and wouldn’t want to waste his time in the box and only taking Thornton with him. If he could take a player of equivalent skill and talent, say Savard/Bergeron/Krejci, to the box for fighting then he probably would.
I’m surprised I got through that without laughing

Dan Carcillo plays about 10 minutes a game, I don’t think those are really “first line player” minutes. That said he does have a lot of skill and talent in drawing penalties, even when one didn’t occur.
Not the most original, though, mostly just stuff like jerking his head back when a guy’s stick is near him and above his waist and looking up what players have been suspended for.

To be honest though I like the fact that the Flyers haven't had a fight yet in the playoffs.
If we do have to fight I hope Boston starts it, Due to our offense finally showing up to the 2nd round of the playoffs!
…..and if f a Flyers player dose drops the gloves I hope its Hartnell. He needs to be hit upside his head to get back to playing more effectively.
bread. butter. cheese. VICTORY!
you wanna hear about players?
claude giourx has been spectaluar to watch this year. Now more then ever down 2 in the series he is KEY!! to win the series. If Scott hartnell can produce a +1 on the ice tonight, the flyers will win. Briere, Richy best players on the ice…BUT LOOK FOR A BIG BOOST FROM THE DEFENSE as Laviellette will have them active in the offensive zone.
Oh thank god you’re back!
Defensive pinches have been pretty useful in the series, you’ve got a point about that. Without them Savard would have never got the game-winner in game one! What a useful tactic.
Do you think Boucher can keep this up?

only if we stay out of the box
penilties have helped and hurt both boston and philly. If the flyers can get the lead score first and give that backbone of confidence to boucher, BOOSH!! is the only thing you will here when its all said and done. So yes Boucher can keep goin and show everyone he is the reason we have the chance.
I wonder if tonight’s refs have seen the replays of the two hilariously bad high-sticking calls drawn by Carcillo so far this playoffs.

proba rushesto avoid hurting the flyers and has helped them more recently. Now if boston getbley
but look for it to be a tight one and savard might go to the box due to a biting call they missed in game 2. now granted give cars credit he is known for fighting and going to the box avoided hurting the flyers and has helped them more recently. Now if boston gets up a goal look for lots of pinches from the flyers to create odd man rush the other way.

ultamitly who wins game 3?
put the game on a stick tell me who wins and why? honestly
Boston wins
without bias. They are winning all the face-offs, which means puck control, and certainly more scoring chances. Tuukka is a better netminder than Boucher, and Boston’s defense has been solid the entire playoffs. Count on going down 3-0.

sry pal
sweep look im all about being realistic but a sweep in the second round agaqinst a play better when against the wall team? I dont think so maybe they wont take it all but maybe they will and boston i promise you are not gonna sweep!!! TRUST ME!!
Doesn’t matter to me if they sweep, as long as they win.

How bout this then....
The Bruins will sweep because they are so deathly afraid of Gagne coming back in game 5, they can’t bear to make it go that far….Give me a break. Boucher will fold like a house of cards, watch it happen.

It's not as if Vanek coming back spelled doom.
Especially if it’s in a game where the team faces elimination.

OH YEA!!
DAVE..BETTER LOOK UP THE STATS AGAIN PAL!! Flyers have more scoring chances and the defensive plus minus is also in the flyes favor and for tuuka being better think of it this way…tuuka and cam ward 1 year amazing BUT! BOUCHER HIS NUMBERS look igt up as of in the playoffs whose the better goaltender. he is good but he has yet to be really forced to play as hard as alot of goalies play we will see
Even strength, the Bruins have a better goals for/against ratio.

i thought analysts needed a decent understanding of the english language, or at least the caps lock button

PATHETIC for a city thats 5 times larger than Boston……hahaha they can barley sell out a stanley cup playoff game. i guess they’re too busy getting tazed at Phillies games
The game will be sold out. It won’t be a struggle. They release tickets the day of the game.

Just found out my mother is going to be on BNN at 7PM, so I’ll be missing most of the 1st. I hope I miss 20 Bruins goals.
