Tough news
The Bruins’ team mentality, however, has been quite unflappable lately. I expect them to close the series out in game 4, game 5 at the latest, and if they can keep getting contributions from guys like Wheeler, who stepped up tonight, they can cover for their losses pretty smoothly.
Yeah
the bruins are built on thick defense and goaltending anyway, and still have enough scoring skill.
I wouldn’t call it scoring skill, maybe something like scoring potential……you’ve seen some of the dry spells our forwards have gone through

Why would he go to Baltimore for surgery and not come back to Boston, hospital capital of the US?
This is a big loss, but we got through Buffalo minus Savard, so I’m not writing off the B’s yet.
Maybe there’s a specialist for whatever he’s got there.

Maybe he wants to be with his teammates?
Oh and I’m sure Baltimore hospitals are decent….especially at surgery. Can you imagine how many gunshot wounds they fix up on a daily basis?

Actually that’s a good point. This could be a good sign – flying him back in the middle of 2 away games would be a much worse sign. Here’s hoping this morning they re-evaluate positively.

The hand center in Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore is the best in the country. So that’s probably why. And I live across the street from it. Shaq came here to get his hand checked earlier this year.
He did have the surgery there so that most be the reason.

Boo...
But, what’s done is done and can’t be changed. How do we think Marchand and/or Whitfield will do?
Not as well as Krejci.

Weird question: Would you rather have Krejci or Savard? They survived pretty good without Savvy, but Im not sure they can without Krejci. Would you rather Savard had not come back but you have Krejci, or have Savvy and lose Krejci like they did?

Weird question
I agree, it is a weird question.
Probably would have to go with Savard, but Krejci’s been playing really well too. I’d rather lose neither.

I’d rather have Krejci. The Lucic/Krejci/Satan line has been the team’s best in the playoffs so far. Krejci brings more defensive ability to the table than Savard, too. But it’s close.
Now, if you were to ask “would you rather have Savard and Stuart back?” you’d get a different answer.
Stuart has been skating but I don’t think he is medically cleared yet. Hopefully he can come back for a game 5 if needed. He may not be 100% but he will cut into Wideman’s ice time.
I would assume he would cut heavily into McQuaid’s ice time, not Wideman’s. The Hunwick/Wideman pairing has been pretty good…to my absolute amazement.
I think Mcquaid’s lower-body injury will cut into his ice time, too.

Yeah except for that Briere breakaway. That was one of the worst plays of the post season
