We've heard over and again that Columbus is willing to deal the #4 pick, and every rumor I've heard leaves me amazed at the low price that they might be willing to take. You've already heard the Kaberle for #4 rumor (a 33 year old defenseman for the 4th overall pick, really?!?), well now CBC's Elliott Freidman seems to think that a Jason Spezza for #4 might be reasonable. To be fair, he couches it as idle speculation, but putting these two together almost has to give one the idea that Columbus isn't valuing that pick all too highly. I mean, Jason Spezza? He of the lousy contract, constant injuries and declining production? That's all the #4 pick in the draft fetches these days?
I really think that pick can be had for a good price if PC is aggressive about pursuing it. I initially thought that a package of Wheeler, Stuart and #15 might do it. Now I wonder if they might take an offer of just Wheeler and Stuart. Or maybe Stuart, Ryder and #32.
