"WTF"
Now as the Draft fast approaches a bit of panic is starting to set in. "What ifs" are riddling my brain more than ever. WTF was Chiarelli thinking? Why sign Ference? Why sign Ference for 3 more years? Why pay him 2.25 million more when he's not worth half that? Why sign a guy who is more injury prone than a red headed step-child with a drunk ass step-father??? I JUST DON"T GET IT!
Does Chiarelli have some loose ends? Does he go way back with Ference's agent? Does he bang Ference's wife and doesn't want her to move away from Boston?
Anyhow I'm really hoping the plan is to move Ference within the next couple of weeks. I just don't get why or how you can hold on to someone who scored 2 goals and accumulated 37 assists over 3 years. Also I want to note hes been a -14 on a winning team.
I firmly believe Chiarelli has something hidden on making this decision. Let the panic set in and watch Stuart and Boychuk leave while we get to keep Ference and Wideman. We have been seriously screwed over.....

I agree the Ference deal sucks.
And I wonder about them trying to get this high draft pick for Cam Fowler, does it mean they have given up on signing Boychuk?

Thats what i mean. Its setting up for disappointment. boychuk easily #2 or #3 defenseman on the B’s. Money is tight now thanks to extensions and horrible Ference deal. Such a demoralizer for a team to see that happen and then top it with a Boychuk exit.
Someday I want there to be a team run by the fans. All votable stock is equal and majority wins for the good of the team. Imagine that.

I dont agree. I think if a team was run by fans there would be too many knee-jerk reaction trades.
I just think Charelli should be fired.

For some reason they like Ference and wanted to keep him, his 2.25 is probably not that far out of wack considering he was at 1.65M last year, and has 6+ years of NHL total games under his belt. I don’t know why they felt compelled to lock him up so early but its done and I hope he stays healthy.
Boychuck came a long way this year, from a healthy scratch early to shining in the playoffs. But I still don’t think he’s considered a #2 or #3 defenseman. Chara-Stuart-Siedenberg-Wideman- the top 4 and a healthy Ference is probably 5. I hope they can hold onto him because of what he showed late in the season but I don’t think he’s played his way into a top pairing!

I cannot agree with Wideman even being mentioned as a top 4 D-man. Had you watched this past season?
I would put Boychuk on par with Stuart and Seids tho. Boychuk was incredible in the playoffs. He can shoot bombs, he can hit hard, he plays D like a solid wall. Stuart doesnt have a bomb but can hit and plays D very well. Wides – umm he can score I think and i wont mention turnovers. Seid – Hes a solid D-man. Other than that I didn’t get to see him mesh yet do to his tendon being sliced. Yes I believe Boychuk is a #2 or #3 on this team.

Boychuk's Sample size is pretty small
But he definitely played well enough for top 4 consideration.
Wideman when he’s on his game is a clear top 4, though the question is his focus, specifically on the defensive end.
He was brilliant in the playoffs as an offensive blue liner, though had some serious gaps in defensive play.
Hopefully boychuck comes back on board and the top 4 look like this:
Chara / Seids
Wideman / Boychuk
Ference / Stuart / Hunwick
With Wides out of the picture, I now think they NEED to bring Boychuck back and give him the opportunity to prove he’s a top 4 Dman, and they should be able to get him for relatively short money!

I am sorry for the foul language. Mondays usually do this to me. That won’t happen again
