I don't get how the NHL could allow this Devils contract to go through, or why it makes sense to them?
17 years and $102M for a player who will be 44 at the end of that deal? Nuts!
$6M minimal cap hits each of the next 8 years? He's contract shoots up to $11M in year 3, but I'm not clear how it effects his cap hit
To say they are stuck with him is an understatement - but what does this mean for Zach Parise? Aside from how great he would look in the black and gold, there doesn't seem like enough $$ to go around for him in NJ.
I just really don't understand this deal for anyone other then Kovi, bad for the NHL, bad for the Devils in my opinion.
