Chiarelli: "I’m happy where we’re at"
Matt Kalman of TheBruinsBlog.net is reporting that he spoke with Peter Chiarelli and Chiarelli is saying that Savard and Thomas will both be on the roster when the Bruins open up training camp in a few weeks.

What’s hilarious is how pissed off Murph was at Jack’s article. Holy shit, it’s like Jack dropped a deuce in his corn flakes and then punted his dog like Jack Black in Anchorman. Check out his Twitter feed from 8/31 to 9/1…
Like to ask Mr. Jack Edwards how much rumor was it when I said the Bruins were trading for Nathan Horton four days before? Enough veracity?
How so? Where does what I wrote, dispute what he wrote with the exception of him claiming rumors are false? I agree w/stats
fans are fine and media disagreeing is fine but don’t question the veracity of what I write when you’re a colleague.
and I completely agree with you and Jack actually. I just don’t take kindly to colleagues calling out colleagues. Sorry.
Oh by the way, to Jack Edwards, good luck getting any management besides Brian Burke commenting on trade rumors.
sum what up? The color of his glasses? Black and Gold. Old news.
To be fair, he apologized later, but man…take it down, Murph. Jack pointed out what the rest of us were thinking: trading Savard doesn’t make sense unless they get a hell of a lot back.
Yeah he was catching some flack for it, for sure. I give everyone a bit of a pass in august because there’s nothing to do and it makes your skin itch a little and maybe you see cross-crease passes out of the corner of your eye and you’ve already watched the HNIC playoff montage a HUNDRED GODDAMN TIMES this week and soccer doesn’t quite cut it and oh god is it really hot or really cold in here I can’t tell and I think I’ve heard just about enough about Kovalchuk’s contract and IS IT OCTOBER YET PLEASE?
On an unrelated note, can we buy “Jack Edwards is my Homeboy” t-shirts yet?

Good for Murph for standing by what he wrote. I love this line: “sum what up? The color of his glasses? Black and Gold. Old news.”

Jesus tap-dancing Christ I’m getting tired of reading the same thing… the salary cap does exist does it not? Like… something HAS to be done we can’t just “be happy with where we are” whilst we are over the cap.
Correct me if I’m wrong but doesn’t something have to be done?
I’m not sure he has to do anything until Sturm comes off the LTIR. That could give him a month or so into the season to find a way to get under the cap, get a feel for how the teams’ coming together, Sieds Krejci and Thomas injuries. the impact of Tyler and maybe in those first couple of months someone will become more attractive to another team in terms of trading partners.

Or they could send Ryder down.

just for the sake of aurgument...
what if Ryder all of the sudden becomes an unlazy trick and starts putting up serious numbers. What then? Seguin back to the Wale?
That’s a good problem to have, and I think that would be filed under “we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it”.
Maybe somebody would take him for a bag of pucks and then the cap issue would be solved.

I hope he’s the one that moves to solve the cap issue, but I doubt it.
by SkateHitShoot on Sep 2, 2010 1:49 PM EDT up reply actions
Better do it quick, though. Once he’s played 9 games it burns a year of his Entry-Level Contract.
If Ryder gets real good we could trade him.

I would be stunned if they sent Seguin back to Plymouth. The only way they’d even consider it is if the kid looked completely, laughably, overmatched. And even then, I don’t think they would.
The logical move would be to just leave Sturm on LTIR longer, or send him to Providence instead of Ryder.
Correct.

at that point you get someone to bite on him and send him packing with some return… im 99.99999% sure seguin will not go back to juniors.

He is one year removed from 27 goals and it’s a contract year…not out the realm of possibilities.

Ryder’s GVT year by year:
14.5
7.7
6.9
3.4
12.3
2.8
He’s done a good job staying on the ice (never less than 70 games, and played at least 81 4 of his 6 years), so injuries can be ruled out as a cause. I doubt you’re going to find too many players with more variance in their stats than that, who stayed healthy. Two star quality seasons, two seasons where he was a good second liner, and two where he was nearly replacement level.
The moral of that story is: anything is possible. 30 goals from Ryder wouldn’t surprise me, nor would starting the season with a 12 game goalless streak and being demoted to Providence.
30 goals would surprise me, but it would be a welcome surprise.

Journalism FAIL
Nice job by TSN burying the lead…actually, no, they completely ignored it. Here’s that same interview, with a different source:
In a situation that’s becoming increasingly more shrouded in mystery, Marc Savard’s agent Larry Kelly mentioned the word ‘lawsuit’ while speaking to an Ottawa radio station on Thursday. According to Sportsnet.ca (sorry, no audio available immediately), while commenting on the possibility of the NHL revoking his client’s contract with the Boston Bruins that began on July 1, 2010, Kelly uttered the words: "You can imagine the lawsuit that would ensue,".
How does TSN not mention the fact that Kelly is threatening to file a f**king LAWSUIT against the NHL if the contract is voided? Doesn’t that seem…I don’t know…moderately important?
I don’t know, I’ve seen some pretty terrible ones. And I don’t go looking for them. How did you even find that?
