Bruins Zdeno Chara, Tim Thomas, and Tyler Seguin all participated in the 2011 Honda NHL SuperSkills Competition on Saturday night, but Chara was the big star of the night by hammering a 105.9 MPH slap shot that set a new skills competition record in the XM NHL Hardest Shot event. Big Z's blast bested the 105.4 MPH mark that he set in 2009. The 6'9" Slovakian blue liner has now won the event four consecutive times.
Bruins rookie froward Tyler Seguin also participated in the Hardest Shot event. Seguin's best of two attempts clocked in at 97.1 MPH.
Goalie Tim Thomas posted the slowest time in the Bridgestone NHL Fastest Skater event while skating in full goalie pads with a time of 19 seconds flat after losing an edge.
