BOSTON - MAY 10: Trent Whitfield #42 of the Boston Bruins and Ville Leino #22 of the Philadelphia Flyers fight for the puck in Game Five of the Eastern Conference Semifinals during the 2010 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs at TD Garden on May 10, 2010 in Boston, Massachusetts. Fluto Shinzawa of The Boston Globe is reporting that  the Bruins have placed forward Trent Whitfield on waivers. Whitfield has been on Long-Term Injured Reserve all season with an Achilles's tendon injury. Teams will have until noon on Thursday to claim the injured 33 year-old depth forward. If Whitfield clears waivers, he will be assigned to the Providence Bruins. I have not heard any updates on Whitfield's health, but the prognosis this summer was that he would likely miss most (if not all) of the '10-'11 season.
