Chara Likely Unavailable This Week
Fluto reports that Zdeno Chara, who sustained a knee injury in Saturday night's game against Columbus, will likely miss Boston's games against Los Angeles, Ottawa and Philadelphia this week. Chara may return against Montreal on December 19, or they may elect to let him heal over the Christmas break and return against Phoenix on December 28. Chara was observed walking without discomfort after Saturday's game.
So, it appears this is a relatively minor injury, and Bruins fans can (for now) breathe a sigh of relief.
Steven Kampfer will take Chara's spot in the lineup.

Not really expecting much until after Christmas then. It’s going to be pretty ugly with no Big Z out there. Timmy and Tuukka are going to have to be in god mode.
That’s for sure. The Bruins will probably try to play conservatively at the back end and minimize mistakes without Chara, but honestly, I’d go the other way. Without Chara and with Kampfer, the one strength the Bruins have as a unit is that their defensemen are very gifted offensively. Kampfer, Corvo, Seidenberg, Boychuk, all these guys have above-average offensive skill sets (way above average in the case of Kampfer and Corvo). They’re going to be giving up a high number of shots anyway without Mt. Zdeno, so why not play some fire-wagon hockey and just say “screw it, let’s play to the strengths we have and just bury the other guys under a mountain of shots”?

Great point
especially since everyone expects the Bruins to play a defense first system. Would be a small shock to the other teams if we came out playing a lil firewagon hockey.
They did it for Savy, they did it for Horton, they did it for each other, they did it for us. I give you the 2011 Stanley Cup Champions....The Boston Bruins!!
I wish Matthew Stafford was Drew Brees. (This is what happens when you back your team and they lose),
Makes sense to me. If you can’t defend ’em, you may as well score more than they do.
Kick his ass, Seabass!
