Kaberle to Montreal?!
Carolina already gave up on their prized FA acquisition and sent him to Montreal for Jaro Spacek.
http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=382331
Spacek is on IR which tells you all you need to know about just how desperate Carolina was to get rid of Tomas. Cap saving move for them as well, as Spacek is in the final year of his contract and has a cap hit of 3.8M. Guess Montreal thinks Kaberle can replace Markov's expected production?

owait…
Kick his ass, Seabass!
Hilarious.
Man, this made my day. Between Kaberle and Markov, they now have 10m tied up in washed up defensemen for two more years

My favorite part of this?
“If you want to condemn a GM for signing a veteran defenceman to a long-term deal, how about Carolina’s Jim Rutherford, who signed the wretched Tomas Kaberle to a three-year deal? Kaberle was nothing but excess baggage for the Bruins during their Stanley Cup run last spring, and he’s been less than that for Carolina.”
- Freelance writer Jack Todd, Montreal Gazette, 12/5/11
Can’t WAIT to see how he and the paper spin this scathing criticism after this trade.

Gotcha now.
Was thinking you were saying that was a quote referencing Kaberle I hadn’t seen.

Of course, this is made all the more amusing by the short time between… only 5 days!

When I first saw Kaberle was traded to Montreal, I assumed the Toilet Flushes were taking on a crappy contract in return. Nope, they get Spacek, and cap room after this season.
What on earth was Pierre Gauthier thinking?!? If they really wanted Kaberle, surely they could have at least gotten Carolina to send a draft pick or prospect back, as the price for taking on that contract.
Not that I’m complaining, mind you.
makes sense to me,
I’d expect some compensation for removing that albatross from around Carolina’s neck. Gauthier is losing it.
Kick his ass, Seabass!
