During the Bruins' Lake Placid retreat, they gave a tryout to local Buford Luke Ray "Bubba" Thomas, a gritty center and truck driver known for grinding, and then taking home the girls he grinds with. GM Peter Chiarelli was a little disconcerted by Bubba's downing a Natural Ice after every shift, but was otherwise impressed by his stickhandling and agitating skills. He's been signed to a tryout contract and will be with the Black Aces for the remainder of the playoffs.
