Versus did a little story on how the Bruins are trying to go high glove side on Carey Price in-between periods; but Andrew Ference’s "finger power" shot was on edge and found its way there. Chara did blast it there and almost made it but I think the Bruins are more worried about getting shots and quality rebounds.
Quality rebounds you say? Well if that isn’t exactly what the Canadians are doing to get their goals? Did you DVR (greatest invention of all time) the game? If you did, look at most every shot taken by the Canadiens; low and wide to create a rebound or more specifically a scoring opportunity. Their rush is designed to take advantage of this. The CH forwards don’t go center lane. They stay a bit off center to the weak side to get the rebounds created from a wide shot. Since Tim Thomas is very aggressive and will challenge the shooter he is often just a bit further out than really necessary and the CH know this. A low and wide shot especially to his blocker side will often produce a juicy rebound with a bunch of the goal available to shoot at. Most of the awesome saves Timmy produced in game 4 and many of their goals in the series have stemmed from this play in particular or from the ensuing scramble afterwards.
Go Bruins!
