Is anyone out there? On the doorstep of one of the biggest Bruins games of the last two decades where is the insight and the activity? Are we all scared that the Bruins are replaying a recurring nightmare?
Going into game 3 I had already begun to consider the possibility of a Stanley Cup Final. At that point the Bruins had outplayed the Lightning in six out of nine periods of hockey. Aside from a few uncharacteristically bad goals in Games 1 and 2 the team put together some strong hockey - Kaberle and Lucic showed signs of coming around and Thomas was back in the zone. It was too good to be true being up 3-0 after the first period in game 4 - the Lightning would pull a Philly and turtle for the rest of the series. Apparently I was not the only person to feel that way - the Bruins skated the rest of the afternoon as though they were the team headed for vacation.
The Bruins now find themselves halfway through the easy part of the test, fresh from handing their opponent every confidence that no lead will ever be insurmountable. Tonight the Bruins get to answer the tougher questions.
