Coming off of a Stanley Cup victory it is hard to look at the Boston Bruins and criticize them for any faults afterall they were able to prove that they were the best team in the league this year. However, going into the draft the Boston Bruins are most certainly going to take a look at what kind of players and prospects they have in their organization in order to figure out what they need to add via the draft, free agency or making a trade with another club. Therefore, we are going to do the same thing here and take a look at the depth of our organization.
Over the past year the Bruins organizational depth chart has most certainly changed and I think we can all agree that it has more or less been for the better. Gone via trade are the likes of wingers Marco Sturm (to Washington via Los Angeles), Blake Wheeler (to Winnipeg), centers Vladimir Sobotka (to St. Louis), Joe Colborne (to Toronto) and defensemen Dennis Wideman (to Washington via Florida), Mark Stuart (to Winnipeg) and Matt Hunwick (to Colorado). The Bruins also "lost" guys like Miroslav Satan and Steve Begin to free agency, but those were expected moves last summer. Another guy the organization is going to lose this summer is veteran Mark Recchi, as he and his 43 year old self has decided to call it quits while on top of the hockey world. On the other hand, the Bruins have added many different players and prospects to their organization in the same timeframe. Guys that have been brought into the organization include, but are not limited to, prospects like Tyler Seguin, Jared Knight, Ryan Spooner (via the Draft), David Warsofsky (via St. Louis) along with players Nathan Horton and Gregory Campbell (via Florida), Tomas Kaberle (via Toronto), Chris Kelly (via Ottawa) and Rich Peverley (via Winnipeg). It should be another interesting summer for the Bruins as they have some cap space to play with due to the expected increase of the cap along with draft picks in each of the 7 rounds of the draft.
The depth chart itself after the jump...
Please note that this organizational depth chart does not take into account the team's lines and projected draft picks. It is just a look at the players we have now in the organization. The players are ordered by the position and cap hit and the prospect are listed based on their grade on Hockey's Future. The salary cap hits that are listed here are the 2010/11 salaries unless a player with an expiring contract has already signed an extension than that extension cap hit is listed. Note: players with "*" next to their names are UFA and players with "**" are RFA.
