Stay Classy Boston
As a Bruins season ticket holder (born and raised in MA), I just wanted to apologize to some of the Canucks fans that attended the game last night. Rest assured, the majority of the fans in the Garden (the real fans anyways) aren't looking for trouble and we all enjoy a good natured ribbing. Once the game was well in hand there were a large number of punks that started running their mouths and trying to start s*%t with Canucks fans. The couple behind me from Vancouver barely said a word all game long and were very respectful (nothing like Montreal fans usually behave), and did not deserve to be accosted once it was 7-1 / 8-1. I personally escorted a young couple down the stairs and outside (hope they made it where they were eventually going). It's a sad day when I had to threaten a few of my fellow Bruins fans that I was going to start throwing on behalf of the Canucks fans given the Bruins fans behaviors. The REAL Bruins fans appreciate your devotion to your team and respect the fact that so many of you travelled so far to see your team play. With that said, it was despicable how many Canucks fans were in the house last night... way too many tickets resold at astronomical prices...
Bottom line, great game last night. We've got a series on our hands. Good luck! Hopefully the punks won't be at Game 4.

It only takes a few A holes to give the whole city a bad name. I ran into a few last night, that is all I am referring to. Most of the crowd seemed amiable. Just a sprinkling of punks looking to start trouble… never one on one… all in groups, pack mentality. You get it in most cities, but still no excuse for it. I wanted to celebrate the win, and instead I was pinned a college kid in a Bruins sweatshirt against the wall b/c he was acting like an idiot.

a college kid in a Bruins sweatshirt
Key word there. “Oh? You mean the entire world is not a stage for me to show off my stupidity and lack of life experience?”
You have absolutely no idea how much I want to be there. Except neither I nor my parents have that kind of money. I’d cheer respectfully, I could tell you that.

Well even if you’re not in classes you might still be a college kid between semesters

I just had a 5 year college reunion myself, and it kind of amazed me how a lot of people didn’t seem to take the next step.
I’m going to be one of those people next year at my 5-year reunion probably

That is too bad...
I was at Game 2 in Vancouver in my Bruins gear, and it was similar to what you say happened. For the most part there was some good ribbing. But every crowd has a few people that forget that it is just a game. Overall though, I had more Canuck fans that respected that I wore the gear in their arena, than i had being jerks. The walk into the arena was actually worse. Good on you standing up for them. I know I appreciated the fans who said something to Canuck fans who were over the line.
Ugh, hate this kind of stupidity. Good on you for doing your part.

Good job, OP.
Always awesome to read about this. Thanks, and you’re right. 2-1 series, 4 more games to go. Let’s all hope for some good hockey that stays well within the rulebook.

3 more games to go, Boston in 6.

I mean, 4 games in total. Come on, cut me some slack here.
And if you really think Vancouver’s going to lose the next 3 games, I’ll come back and eat crow. But this Vancouver team isn’t going to lay down even after a game like that.

Hey I’m just being a fan. You gotta put it out there against any and all reason. You gotta be a little blind to reality at least when it comes to faith in your team. Otherwise it just isn’t as exciting. You coulda come straight back at me and said, “nah, I really think there are only 2 more games, I’m just a guest here so I was being polite”
That’s the fun of the playoffs. You go over the top. You believe in the impossible, like Sedin getting poked and then not flopping to the ice like a fish reeled in. Or you believe in the improbable like Recchi scoring 2 goals in the same game at 43 frickin years old.
You just do it all with the understood rules of trash talk. No families (leave mom and the wife out of it). And nothing personal (if a guy has a concussion history, calling him short bus is kinda below the belt). But beyond that most stuff is fair game, as long as you’re willing to receive as hard as you dish.

Sooooo!!!
It never crossed your mind between Saturday (game 2) and last night (game 3) that the Canucks could win four in a row? You cut me some slack ….you guys got out of the gate quick with two wins that could have easily gone the other way. Boston had to win 12 to get to the finals as well, anything could happen at this point in the season.

Well.. cuz it’s damn funny. Haha… Any reasonable fan would be able to have a laugh about that. That’s why I didn’t really think what Lappy did was that egregious. It wasn’t as if he had just laid someone out or anything like that. He’s a dick, he jokes around, but that’s pretty funny, no?

A Vancouver reporter asked Lucic about the way Boston fans treat out-of-towners, saying that Vancouver natives had phoned his station saying they were verbally abused, among other things, by Bostonians after Game 3.
"It’s funny they say that," a suddenly fired-up Lucic began, "because I remember after Game 1, people in Vancouver throwing popcorn and peanuts at my grandparents. That’s almost as low as it gets as that goes. They’re my grandparents. They’re in their sixties. If their is anyone you should show respect to, it’s them.
hey there
are bruins fans we dont even know. anybody can be an asshole. i bet 100% of the assholes on earth are sports fans that drink
Not 100% but the combo can lead down a dark path if done wrong.

so its kinda
hard to trash talk about ?classyness? when everyones a hypocrite but thats what also makes it fun. so everybody lighten up
Great post
Makes me think I should apologize for something I posted on Nucks Misconduct earlier today. Obviously the majority of posters on SCOC are quality people, who support their Bruins whole heartedly. I let the words of a few colour my perception of the whole, which is so very, very wrong. Good luck tonight, and let’s have an awesome series.

Saw nothing crazy last night… not like Game 3 anyways. Seemed like a lot less Canucks jerseys in the stands too.

I asked the BPD through their official twitter feed, and they said no assaults
CBC apparently is the place to go if you’re assaulted, I guess.

Maybe Brick would be biased but I don’t think there is a better color guy in hockey. The way he breaks down plays and explains things in a way that is easy to assimilate is amazing. Brick has taught me more than most of my hockey coaches.

I would just like to say....
I just got back from being in Boston for Game 6 and I had a fantastic time down there. The city of Boston is as beautiful as I remembered it from before and the people were fantastic. There were a few Canuck fans that were given a hard time but nothing out of the ordinary. Some of the Canucks fan actually were asking for a lot more than they were given. They went a little above and beyond the normal heckling as did some Bruins fans but I did not see or hear anything that really crossed the line.
We spent Monday afternoon wandering around Quincy Market and then headed to the Garden area for some grub and a few pre game beers. We ate at the Fours (holy crap they must have the best sports memorbilia in the country), grabbed a few beers at Sully’s and then headed to the patio at Hurricanes. We were lucky enough to get on the CBC broadcast doing the Ron McLean intro and I also was fortunate enough to make the Boston Herlad on page 5!! Now I just need to figure out how to get a copy of that paper up to me!
My entire group had a great time and loved the city and cant wait to return! Oh yeah the atmosphere in the arena was unreal. You really know how to support the B’s Boston!!!
For Horton!!
My cousin was on the front page a month or so ago – he called the Herald, and they charged him – but he got a nice copy of his picture. Oddly, his sister works at the Four’s… their memorabilia is great, but it’s too bad the Canucks’ fan club sent an e-mail out saying it was their Boston headquarters for the SCF (and unfortunately for my cousin, they don’t tip very well!).
Glad you had a good time. I was psyched to go drinking before game 6, but my 32412656713541 year old cat had to go to the vet in the morning (she’s only got a few days left), so I was emotionally wiped all day on Monday – doh!!

Yeah the patio there was loaded with Vancouver fans so we stuck to Hurricanes. Ironically enough the patio was filled with Canadian Bruins fans. From Saskatchewan to PEI we rocked that patio all day long and then returned after the game. I ran into a few season ticket holders down there so now I just need the schedule for next year to be released so I can plan my return!!
