Bruins Sign Adam McQuaid To A 3 Year Extension
BOSTON, MA – Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today that the club has signed defenseman Adam McQuaid to a three-year contract extension through the 2014-15 season. The team also signed forward Craig Cunningham to an entry level contract and defenseman Zach McKelvie to a one-year contract. Per club policy, financial terms of these deals will not be disclosed.
Update: Capgeek is reporting that the deal is for 3 years and $4.7 million, for an annual cap hit of $1.567 million.

Good news, but there should be a contract stipulation that McQuaid must keep the mullet year-round.

Hard not to like this move. McQuaid is, at minimum, an excellent third pair guy who’s perfectly capable of being a second pair guy. 6.5 GVT at the age of 24 is impressive, but here’s what impressed me: he had 0.94 even strength points per 60 minutes, second among Bruin defensemen, behind only Chara, and ahead of more skilled players like Kaberle and Seidenberg. And he did it with the second worst zone starts on the D: only 46.4% of his shifts started in the offensive zone (only Chara was worse).
and he is a reliable physical defenseman. good +/- too
