Making The Cup - Savard Likely, No News on Kampfer
Looks like Marc Savard is likely to have his name included on the Cup, but this leave us with a question - should Steven Kampfer have his name included as well?

It really should be a no brainer that Savard’s name be on the cup. He was their top producer offensively on the team and would have made that terrible power-play somewhat decent if he were around. Kampfer on the other hand, I wouldn’t mind seeing his name on the Cup, but at the same time it wouldn’t bother me if it wasn’t included.
Agreed.
Kampfer didn’t play much during the year or playoffs because he simply wasn’t good enough. He was the 7th D, plain as that.
Savard would have played and seen a lot of icetime had he been healthy. Injury doesn’t seem like a viable reason to be omitted from the Cup to me.

Kampfer was likely kept from meeting the minimum requirements due to his own injury as well. He probably would have played in advance of Hnidy in the playoffs if Kampfer had been healthy.
Agreed. But I still don’t see the two situations being comparable.

Actually, on second thought, this is not true. Hnidy is not guaranteed his name on the Cup as he meets neither of the requirements (41 regular seasons games or one SCF game)… his lone playoff game doesn’t qualify as it came in the first round.

Oops – you’re right – I glossed over that too quickly in the article.
It used to be just a playoff appearance that was required and nothing to do with the finals. I didn’t realize they made that change.
Dunno… I thought it was the latter as well… just a playoff game, not Finals only. Can understand both sides of that argument.

I think they should both end up on the cup. As recently as what, 5 years ago, they’d have played through those concussions. They shouldn’t be punished for that.
