Mazz on Savard, and some Bruins cap news
...and a Marc Savard update for those of you who haven't been reading the Globe or Boston.com.
I know we've all been expecting him to retire, or at least wanting to hear *some* news. Something, anything. Hope, or for our hopes to be dashed. Well, here it is: Peter Chiarelli doesn't see Marc Savard playing this season. While it's (kind of) nice to hear someone come out and say it, it still hurts. A lot. I think we're definitely (or defiantly! Yes, we are defiant!) looking at a Kariya-type season in 2011-12, where Savard will come to terms with not playing hockey again, and then we'll see him retire after next season.
Also, I know it's a few days old but I'm not sure anyone linked it here, but the Bruins are facing a cap penalty this year, mostly because the Recching Ball is totally badass, and we won the Cup, earning him some bonus money:

hmm, thanks for the links. I usually only check the globe bruins blog and not the general sports section, guess I should do that. :)

I’d say the man earned it…
And its not like Boston doesn’t have plenty to spare this year… kinda nice to be in that position honestly.

He most certainly deserves it. I liked Mark Recchi long before he was ever a Bruin, but now he’s got a special place in my heart. <3
Kick his ass, Seabass!
