Tim Thomas's outstanding play in goal....and overall Bruins play of late....
Brand new to this forum; not sure if this is where these ramblings belong.... I have been following the Bruins since 1967 or so, and remember the first round of expansion of the NHL that brought us the California Golden Seals (you could look it up, Casey)…I do not ever remember a Bruins goaltender playing as well as has Tim Thomas during the past 12 months or so…Is this the best Bruins team of my lifetime?
Gee, that’s tasty Kool-aid….gimme some more of that….

Yup, just turned 30 myself last month. Best team EVER! If we had Ray Bourque playing it would be something else!
30 also, and I can’t believe I’m saying this, but this team is bettwe than the late 80s/early 90s B’s. I still can’t believe I saw them win the Cup.

That’s true, ILS, Ray is only 51 years old….I’m sure he could take a shift or two on D and do just fine…grin
If anyone could, I’d bet my milk money on Ray Bourque…kind of the hockey version of John Havlicek in terms of stamina and durability.
"Finally it was over, and Orr, still wearing the jersey, went over to shake hands with the present Bruins, hugging old teammates Gary Doak and Gerry Cheevers. Then he went through the gate and out of the arena, this artist whose artistry was halted suddenly and too soon.
"Don Cherry has a video tape of a Channel 38 production of Orr's greatest moments, with Barbara Streisand's 'The Way We Were' in the background. 'I have a few beers at home,' he said, 'and I go down and put the tape on and watch. And when she sings that phrase 'the way we were' and the young Bobby is doing the things on the ice that he could do, I just sit there and cry. Every time I cry.'
"Cherry says he was criticized when he first became coach of the Bruins because he seemed in awe of Bobby Orr.
" 'Of course I was. So was everyone who ever played with him or against him.'
"So were we all."

I think the 69-72 bruins could give these guys a run for their money.
Otherwise, well, they won the cup so they must be doing SOMETHING right. They’re very very very good right now and I love it.

As someone whose heart has been broken by them annually for a long time, words can’t even explain how good it felt to see them win the Cup, or how absolutely awesome it is to be able to say they’re so good without feeling even a hint of exaggeration.

32 and this is the best time I can remember being a Bruin fan.
Those teams of the late 80’s early 90’s were pretty good too its just that there was this guy Mario in Pittsburgh and this other Oil city team who won a few Cups around that time too. But the heartbreak felt in the past has been erased and although it took a lot longer for them to finally win one I could see, it was well worth the wait and pain.
They did it for Savy, they did it for Horton, they did it for each other, they did it for us. I give you the 2011 Stanley Cup Champions....The Boston Bruins!!
My Lions lost to the Saints who are clearly the better team. (This is what happens when you back your team and they lose),
