More importantly?
The captain selections were made by the ASG roster. So Chara was chosen by a committee of his peers, not by some suit in Toronto looking for the best angle or PR spins.

No I’m pretty sure they’re named

Nope. TSN says that the NHLPA gave the all-stars a ballot asking for three selections. I recall that being the case last year as well. Otherwise why would the league have selected Lidstrom when there were far sexier picks available.

How could Chara possibly win when Superstar PJ Axelsson was playing on the other side?

My word
I had to look it up to see that this was a real helmet. Outrageous – how have I not seen this before???
An escalator can never break. It can only become stairs.
Top scorer either on the team or in the league gets it.

I really wish the NHL did it too. It looks bomb. Imagine Marshy wheeling around with a golden bucket.
he’d have to be top scorer first
Seguin in a gold helmet would be hilarious though

I thought he was ahead of Seggy
before he got suspended. Seguin in the golden helmet would be equally as awesome.
Nope. Seguin has been pretty much leading for the whole season. Marchand had caught him in goals I believe but trailed in assists.
by BobbyOrrsBastard on Jan 18, 2012 6:53 PM EST up reply actions
I disagree
I think the Shiny helmet for the top scorer undermines team spirit and praises individuality and more importantly entices other players to “Cream the guy with the shiny helmet”

I’m not sure what is fun about them. The ads just create a lot of clutter and take away from the team’s crest.

So true.
Embarrassing for the other team is what it is. And Timmy just owns it too. Other Jokerit goalies used black or white pads, but Tim just goes all out with the clownshoe gear, down to slapping the logo on his helmet too.
Hell yeah he did.

With the 10th pick in the NHL 2012 All-Star Game Draft, Team Chara selects

Patrice Bergeron

in his perfectly tailored suit,
HE’S HERE
waves and smiles awkwardly,
WE’VE GOT A SLOBBERKNOCKER NOW
and sits back down.

I searched 'slobberknocker' at dictionary.com
I the first real thing I got was an add for beef jerky through shopzilla. JR’s Slobber Knocker Hot Beef Jerky. And that link took me to WWEShop. I think I should have just asked, what is a slobber knocker?
hell if I know, it’s a term wrestling announcers use to mean a big fight or something like that

His entrance music
would totally be something like Canon in D major.
There have been a lot of jokes going around that Kessel will still be last pick this year now that a Bruin and Senator are captains.

I think we can safely say that neither of them want to pick him. I would LOVE for him to be picked last again.

DGB might win, as per usual:
@DownGoesBrown
I hope Zdeno Chara drafts Kessel by saying “I guess I might as well, since I already own him”.

Fantastic.
The other question… who wants to bed Alfie takes Thomas first, or very early anyways?

And if not Kessel, is Price the last man picked? Or is there a rule about goalies being selected by a certain round?

Will be curious to see who the alternates are. Think those are chosen by the league but not certain.
