Ference 3 game Suspension
As a long time Boston Bruins fan, (think Orr), I'm very disappointed that Shanahan gave Ference a 3 game supsension. Even by our standards, this play was so cheap and reckless, arguably malicious, that he certainly deserves a more severe punishment. Ference had to have known exactly what he was doing at that moment when he tapped the NY Ranger's skate from behind and being so close to the boards... further adding to the danger of the play. It's getting hard to love my Bruins when they're starting to look more like the Charleston Chiefs. Ok, lets see what everyone else says... keep the trash talk out of my post.

Look at this guy that didn’t actually watch slapshot.
It’s the Syracuse Bulldogs that are the bad guys in that movie.

Yeah, there’s really no point into banning, I used to see exactly what you’re speaking of when I spent more time on HF. Troll. Ban. Change Name. Troll. Ban. repeat.
It’s easier if they retain the same name, since everyone here knows this particular individual’s deal at this point, best bet is to never respond. Trolls eventually get bored when no one pays attention.

Hi I’m Cornelius Hardenbergh, Director of User Safety of the Stanley Cup of Chowder. On Monday night, a fan post occurred concerning the Ference suspension.
From this post you can clearly see that the principal point of trolling was to this thread. As the video shows, rather than deliver a reasoned, thought out defense of his position, the user delivered an inflammatory, facetious call for further Ference punishment. This is a clear violation of rule 21.1: A user may not question Andrew Ference.
While we understand that in certain circumstances, criticism of the team is warranted. However, based on comments earlier in the article, this appears to be a predatory low blow. To be clear, we do not consider this a cogent critique of player discipline.
It is important to note that we have taken into account that other users have suffered headaches as a result of reading this post. It was also taken into consideration that this user has otherwise only showed up to stir shit in Vancouver related posts.
In summary:
- point of contact to the thread
- repeat offender
- vancouver fan

I love it. You’re not a troll apparently. You signed up on January 9 (in the aftermath of the Canucks game). And so far you’ve commented on the following.
- Marchand not being suspended enough Ference not being suspended enough
-
— Tim Thomas making himself bigger than the team.
The Bruins are the defending Stanley Cup Champions. They lead the league in goal differential. Everyone in the league rooted for them to beat the Canucks last spring and they delivered.
Yet, you’ve never said a single positive thing about the Bruins. Even the worst pretend Bruins fan troll is smart enough to make a comment like..Bergeron is the man, should be at the All-Star Game, because it’s impossible for any real Bruins fan to dislike Bergeron. You’re just a lazy troll. The type of troll that doesn’t go into the corners. The type of troll that when the physical ante gets upped in the Stanley Cup Finals, puts your troll tail between your legs and gets shut out at home. The worst kind of troll really.

If you actually played the game you’d understand my comments, not that I know what I’m talking about…. having only played to the major junior level. And yes, ban anyone that doesn’t agree with the core few people that write on this blog… not up for any ideas other than your own little collective agreements… makes for boring blogs.
For the record, by calling people who write comments that make you think outside of your little boxes “Trolls” you thereby call the rest of us Bruins fans the crap that trolls feed on. Brilliant.

I’ve played the game since about 1987. I think I’ve earned the right to comment on the team and the sport.
The problem is not that you disagree, it’s that you pretty much only post inflammatory BS to get a rise out of people, thus making you a troll. You didn’t appear until after the Canucks game, which you only did to gripe/troll about Marchand. What’s the point? Are you only here to call the Bruins dirty and constantly needle me and a couple other regulars here on every word we type? If so… bring it on! I can take it, Steamer.

It’s not that I don’t like the Bruins, it’s just that I only complain about the Bruins.
I accuse the Bruins of taking hockey back to the dark ages, even though prior to last season, the vast majority of predatory hits in the NHL were by non-Bruin players.
I love the Bruins, but I choose only to comment when a Bruin player does something wrong. I don’t go to Broad Street to complain about Hartnell, I don’t go to Nucks Misconduct to complain about Burrows and Lapierre….. But really guys, I love the Bruins.
I understand the game of hockey. I played Major Junior. I also own many leather bound books about hockey and my apartment smells of rich mahogony.

this is getting into an argument about moderating that’s probably going to have to be codified by the site editors as this readership grows and the haters continue to hate.
that said, I see a difference in a guy with a long SBN history, albeit not at SCOC, who joined this site as a lurker a couple years ago vs a new account created after a Canucks game that repeatedly stirs shit.
but hey, i jumped down a guy’s throat for self-promotion and he seems to have meant well, so my bad too.
All I am saying is that all three cases merit extra scrutiny for various reasons that are all reasonable and logical. So two of the three proved to be legitimate and not meriting of our suspicions but that doesn’t mean we were wrong to be suspect. Especially in the wake of the recent trollings and the occasional spam posting on fanshots/posts.

wow, you guys/gals are really threatened and distressed by a few comments on suspensions for dirty play. I personally don’t like Marchand or Ference, but whatever… to each his or her own. I just think that if the suspensions for dirty play are somewhat severe they might be less likely to happen. That, or fine the teams directly then it’ll bring it back down a few notches. Like I’ve said many times before, obviously no one reads anything they don’t want to, I like the Bruins, don’t love them like I used to, and I like HOCKEY better. Obviously it’s a little frat party here and only people that are like-minded are welcome to comment. Having seen too many guys have to quit way too early because of dumb and cheap shots it’s sort of an issue with me. Take it for what you want, my comments are not inappropriate, haven’t called any of you any names for expressing your views but if that’s what you need to do to feel good about not having a legit response it’s fine. Yes – You like the Bruins.

Pretty much aligns with my feelings. Hate is a terribly unproductive emotion. I generally don’t like who the Bruins are competing with in a given season. Most seasons of my life, that team has been the Habs. I also tend to dislike the Penguins (and Matt Cooke), and the Canucks (LaPierre/Burrows), and the Flyers.
I laughed at the people who couldn’t pull themselves to root for Montreal when they played the Leafs in the Kessel draft pick seasons. My main concern is always the welfare of the Bruins.
by Michael Taylor on Jan 27, 2012 10:26 AM EST up reply actions
Funny bit is I always liked the Canucks… until the SCF of course.
My Flyers animosity has faded significantly the last couple years after it spiked in the wake of Jones/Hartnell.
I dislike the Pens and Caps simply for the unrelenting media pressure over them. Same goes for Crosby and Ovechkin. It’s not their fault but the media’s and league’s fault that I can’t stand them.

This is an interesting forum to discuss the issues in hockey today, but what you don’t seem to understand is that this is a Bruins blog filled with and written by Bruins fans.
By all accounts, it seems you don’t actually like the team, as you only come here to trash them. That is why everyone gives you crap. It’s not because you’re new, it’s because we’ve never read anything remotely complimentary about the team (or even anything neutral, for that matter), and you popped up during the Marchand/Salo incident – that’s why several people think you’re a Canucks fan.
