The Noon Number
48 - The total number of shot yesterday by the Bruins against the Minnesota Wild. While the 48 shots were a season-high for Boston, the team failed to record a single goal.
The previous season-high in shots was just a few weeks ago against Carolina - the Bruins recorded 47 shots on goal, but again failed to record a single goal. The Bruins were also shutout 3-0 by the Rangers last week in a game where they recorded 42 shots.

Awfully quiet in here today...
4 Comments since the loss to the Wild? I guess no one is in the mood to talk/chat about the Bruins…
True, but we can discuss potential trades/hockey happenings, etc....
It is just strange that there are no comments (aside from yours and mine) in here… spooky… :o
Can’t believe it.

True...
This road trip is not going anywhere near how it went last year. Or even the year before that, when Thomas recorded back-to-back 1-0 victories over Edmonton and Calgary. We are in a funk right now, and just need some bounces to go our way instead of hitting posts or goalies equipment. :)
what better way to do that....
than to destroy the Blues on Wednesday??? WOOOO
no seriously I need them to win this one, I might actually die

Suffering from shock & sadness
I have popped in but can’t find anything constructive to say. Don’t want to be “Debbie Downer” and overreact but something needs to change. I dont have the hockey smarts to know what must change other than the letter in the win / loss column. Maybe I’ll pray to the hockey gods?

Slightly after Midnight stats
I’m up early so I crunched some numbers for ya.
A lot of attention has been paid to how last year’s top line is struggling especially since Horton went down.
…and yes, our whole team has been shut out 4 of the 11 games following Horton’s injury. I just want to point out how the blame (for offensive misconduct) doesn’t belong solely on our previous 1st line.
Since Jan 22 when Horton was injured, our newly reconfigured 1st line Krejci/Lucic/Peverley has gone 6-6-12 and +/- minus15. Our third line (Kelly/Pouliot/Caron/Hamil) went 2-3-5 +/- minus14. Our fourth line (Thornton/Paille/Campbell) went 1-1-0 +/- minus10.
That means our 1st line averages ~1ppg. Our third line .45ppg. Our fourth line is .18ppg. C’mon guys.
Yeah, our lines got shuffled quite a bit with other injuries/absences but the breakdown shoud be eye-opening. For a team that relies on scoring by committee and is proud of their 3rd and 4th lines, our 3rd and 4th stringers have been black holes since Horton has gone down and we needed backup scoring to support a slumping main line.
/Also, we’re 4-3-1 when nationally televised. //shakes fist at versus ///and NESN for not being available in Maryland
give us the 2nd line numbers you tease

Fine, fine. Bergeron’s line racked up 6-11-17 and minus12 during the 11 game stretch for 1.54ppg. Excluding the shutouts puts them up to +3. Not a blistering pace by any measure but still demonstrative of other failures (seriously when perennial Selke snub Bergeron is in the minues it’s not only the offense that is flailing).
